absolutely horrible. stayed in a 2-bed room that was just about big enough for the bunkbed, that's it. could barely fit our luggage in there. It couldn't even be considered a room, as it was about the size of a closet. The bathrooms could only be used right after someone cleaned them. The rooms smelled, the carpets were filthy and the only internet access available was on a computer set up in the kitchen - which was way too small for the amount of people who stayed there. The staff was nice, but that was it. Would never recommend this to anyone.

The installations are poor and the rooms are extremely small. In the room we had for 8 people, we entered from 2 to 2, because there weren´t space for anyone else. The doors are closed at 3:00 AM and they don´t provide you with a key or a code. In my opinion this is ridiculous.

The bathroom was small as well. Fortunately, only us and another group were in the hostel at the time, so we hadn´t need to wait. No breakfast included.

The two points are for the cheap price, but if you can afford it, you better go to another place.

I had never stayed in Hostel prior this trip but I can tell you that I probably will never stay in one again! My experience at Salmon Weir scarred me for life.

I had always heard that Hostels were not amazing places and just an inexpenisive roof over your head on an already expensive Euro trip, but come on! This hostel raves about its cleanliness but I was afraid to sleep in my bed for the two nights we were there. I'm glad I had packed some sheets, the hostels sheets were gross! The floors and chairs were also very dirty and none of the power outlets seemed to work. We had to use one of two outlets in the common room. This was very unpractical in terms of safety and comfort. I can survive without a cellphone but not so much when you need to book things & keep track of tours while there. Beds are also quite uncomfortable and there is not enough space in the room for simple baggage.

The check-in staff was courteous but seemed a but awkward. The onstaff manager on the other hand, wasn't courteous and seem to lack the adequate people skills needed to work in a place mean't for tourist accomodation. We asked him a simple question about transportation to a sight in the area and he responded by saying that he had no idea and throwing an already confusing bus schedule at us. He also seemed to have a sour attitude when people came rang the doorbell when returning after hours. If its there policy to have to open the door after business hours, guests should not have to feel like they're doing something wrong or to have burdened staff. I encountered a trend with some of the guests. Some stay there for weeks on end without paying and seem a bit strange. They should maybe also get rid of person's, who do this at least for the safety of transient guests. The only positive thing about this hostel is that the location is great!

This place seems more like a halfway house for runaways and criminals than a tourist hostel. Never recommending this hostel to anyone.

This is a gem of a hostel. Very chilled out atmosphere with lovely staff. They took an interest in our stay and helped us find the right places to go in Galway to suit our tastes. We were made to feel very welcome in the shared kitchen and common room. Sally was often baking and let us sample her food. Ollie was very helpful with local knowledge and was thoughtful regarding our comfort. The rooms are basic but clean. There is no on site parking however the staff were very helpful by finding us alternative free parking. This place was so welcoming, we booked one night but stayed for the week. If you prefer a good atmosphere rather than a mint on your pillow, this is worth a stay.

The room reaked of mold, nothing seemed really clean. The wall to wall carpets are gross. When we requested another cover for the bed we were offered one that had been on the common room floor. Eww. It's fairly central and the employees are sweet, but that's about it. Noisy at weekend nights.

Excellent hostel, good location, very welcoming and helpful staff, warm and homy. Cheap and nice for a good stay in Galway! common areas are very homy and the atmosphere is great. Rooms are small but clean and people are respectful of other's sleep. Overall very good.

Stayed here with 2 friends for 2 nights. When we first got there, they had got our booking wrong. We booked a 4 bed room, and instead were put in a 6 bed room. Absolutely tiny room with 3 bunk beds, which we were sharing with extremely rude people who did not speak a word of English. After asking about the booking we were refunded 20 euro, but had to stay in that room - we purposely stayed out late to avoid the awkwardness of the room. The second night we were put in the room we booked, which was better. However, there is a 3am curfew, and no door keys, so you have to ring a doorbell every time you wish to go into the hostel which was very annoying. The only positive thing was the location - very close to town. Also the staff were very awkward people.
