Adare House is a good choice if you want to be in walking distance to Galway center....the hostess is friendly and helpful. Room was good size, very clean, coffee maker, water, and HD TV....breakfast had traditional breakfast and fruit and 12 hot choices! Really good value and free parking!

My group -- moms and daughters -- recently stayed at the Adare Guesthouse and loved it. The location is perfect, as it's walking distance across a bridge from the activity of Galway. Grainne runs a tight shop, with clean rooms and cozy bedding, wonderful breakfasts, and a comfortable living area where guests commune. The added bonus to any guest is Patrick's (Irish spelling?) tour of his lush organic garden -- which produces vegetables for those tasty breakfasts. Another bonus is Grainne herself, who we found to be fun and a great source of information.

This B&B is a short walk from the pedestrian zone of Galway 'downtown', an excellent location for exploring. Breakfast was magnificent (made to order from menu), though didn't start until 8 am when we would have liked to leave earlier. Very quiet, we didn't hear anything. Owners grow own herbs with organic methods. Galway itself is bustling with walkers and has many good restaurants. No pool or fitness center, to be expected at B&B. Takes credit card (not all B&Bs do).

From our arrival to departure the B&b was one of the best we have stayed at. Pat, Grannie, and Mary were like family from the moment we arrived. Grannie's cooking was above the norm and held us till dinner. We do recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a great place close to town.

Adare house is in an excellent location and will extremely well managed. We had a comfortable room and breakfast the next morning was plentiful and delicious.

It is a very short walk into the center of Galway, and we stopped at two great music pubs right in the same neighborhood as the B&B. All in all a wonderful stay. We would happily stay here again.

My husband and I were driving across Ireland without a plan once we arrived in Galway. We stumbled upon the Adare Guesthoue and took a chance booking a room for two nights. Wow, we were ever impressed and surprised! Grainne was so welcoming and provided wonderful tips for our stay in Galway and conversation about Irish culture. They were extremely accommodating and even allowed us to move upstairs to a bigger room the second night, since the smallest was all that was available when we checked in. The rooms were very cozy and comfortable and the breakfast, made to order, in the morning was nothing short of amazing. My husband and I were very pleased and enjoyed a couple of mornings of conversation with other guests and the owners. The coffee and treats were wonderful, too, in the afternoon after walking around the city all day. By the way, if you walk out of the front door and cross the park, you're in the midst of busy Galway - perfect location to enjoy what the area has to offer. I would love to stay here again in the future and have dreams about the couple of days we spent in Galway and the surrounding areas (we took a day trip to Kylemore Abbey and the Cliffs of Moher - both within an hour distance either direction driving). By far, my favorite days in our eight-day trip to Ireland!

When we first started researching accommodations in Galway (Irish: Cathair na Gaillimhe), Salthill seemed most appealing, but we left all options on the table. We needed a clean room with two comfortable beds, a great breakfast, and a location within walking distance of the bus station. We were without a car.

Based upon its central yet tucked-away location, our final choice was the Adare Guesthouse located in a location more central than Salthill. We stayed in the main house for two nights at the beginning of October, our first stop in Ireland. We asked about the name of the guesthouse (“Adare”) and Grainne explained that that name reflects the residence of relatives who live in Limerick.

Adare Guesthouse is easy to find. (One tripadvisor review mentioned the huge signs announcing THE ADARE GUESTHOUSE and suggested a more subtle sign would better match the quality of the guesthouse. I agree. I chuckled to myself as I imagined they were so massive because some guests said they had trouble finding the B&B. The huge signs shout, IT’S RIGHT HERE UNDER YOUR NOSE.) The Adare guesthouse is a five minute walk from historic Galway over the River Corrib via the Wolfe Tone Bridge. We walked through the little park which leads to the entrance of the Guesthouse. This convenient location was perfect for us! If you have a car, parking is available. If you don’t, the bus station is close.

The door is welcoming with two colorful stained-glass windows. Upon entering, you see an inviting common area with over-stuffed furniture and a fireplace, as well as the breakfast room with huge windows overlooking the garden. The garden is dominated by a statue of writer Padraic O Conaire, a famous relation of the owners.

After an early flight to Shannon and then a quick bus to Galway, we arrived earlier than usual for a B & B, but I had previously emailed Grainne that we expected to arrive early. We were greeted kindly by Grainne. I was unfamiliar with that name, and she said I could call her “Granny” if I wanted to. I chose to learn the correct pronunciation instead. We didn’t meet Padraic, but Grainne and her family were friendly and accommodating.

At once, Grianne saw to it that our room was readied and as a result we were able to rest just a little bit before exploring Galway. This refreshed us and greatly helped us settle in. In the room, bottled water and chocolate were waiting for us. The room was clean and the bed comfortable.

In the morning, a menu for an incredibly good breakfast including a full Irish breakfast was provided. A continental breakfast was readily available too, again with many options like cereals, fruit, yogurt etc. Tea and coffee are always present in the breakfast room along with chocolates/cookies.

We didn’t use Galway as a mere jumping off point to other places like the Aran Islands and the Connemara; we spent time exploring Galway so the Guesthouse was perfect for us. We definitely enjoyed walking the prom overlooking Galway Bay, and kicking the wall for good luck, but we were so glad we didn’t stay in Salthill with its tall, massive hotels. I enjoyed staying at the Adare Guesthouse located so close to old Galway’s famous streets. Upon leaving the Guesthouse, we had a fun conversation with Grainne who surprised us with her knowledge of sports, and athletes in Ireland.
