Stayed here for a few nights January 2014. Great central location. Great breakfast. Food in the bar downstairs was also very good. We had a smoking room at the front of the hotel and you could hear some noise from the street but nothing to keep us awake....although in busier times it might be an issue. Room was basic but clean. One gripe was that we left our room at 10.30am one morning and the housekeeping staff had already been and gone so our room couldn't be made up. They had left clean towels but I thought this was a bit early. Overall though a good stay and would stay again.

Room Tip: Go for one on the upper floors and at the back of the hotel as the rooms at the front can be a bit n...

Myself, my husband and two kids stayed her for a weekend in December. The family room was nice and clean but was quite small for the four of us but we didn't mind too much. The hotel rooms could do with some updating though, the decor is very old fashioned and the key to the room was on a huge keyring which was awkward. The staff are so friendly and extremely helpful. I would stay here again as it is cheap and is in a great location especially when christmas markets are on!

Positives:
-great location
-close to €10 overnight parking
-free wifi
-good enough place to rest head for a night (it served it's purpose!)
-good pub and restaurant hooked onto hotel
->>>rated average but would definitely stay again and would recommend to people who are just passing through or are backpackers not for families who need space or for people on holiday trying to stay at a grand hotel

Negatives:
-Pretty outdated and kinda crappy
-Major mold issue on bathroom ceiling (the hotel staff said they would fix immediately)
-Low water pressure in shower, water trickled out (huge con for me!)

stayed four days here from (2/1/14).the staff at reception and the rest off the staff are lovely, very help and polite.stayed in 401 top floor, clean room, comfortable bed, the bathroom was alright did the job, clean towels, room clean everyday.the odd banging of doors but nothing major.i was told the nightclub next door was closed for renovations till April-May, so that might be a bit different with noise when it opens.ate in the restaurant and the only thing i can say it was beautiful and would recommend to eat there.other places, if you like Chinese the Ming Garden. The Kings Head great food served in these places. Taffaes good for irish trad.Would i use this hotel again, certainly.

Me and my two friends stayed in a triple room and we really enjoyed it. The room was warm throughout our stay as the radiators were on. The room and bathroom were very clean. The price was so cheap for the location. We were allowed to check in early and check out late with no extra charge. The staff also let us leave our bags at reception after we checked out while we went shopping. The minor negatives would be no extractor fan in the bathroom, a tiny television and no parking but we did get a discount for a nearby multistorey.

I will definitely be staying here on my next trip to Galway. If you want a basic, decent hotel this is it.

Great for weekends away with friends. A bit outdated and grubby and a bit of an attitude toward guests as they tend to be of a younger crowd. One of the best locations as it's right beside Eyre Square and bus station.

We love visiting Galway, especially over Christmas and usually stay in 4-star luxury hotels. This year we are on a budget and since we usually spend most of our time at the Xmas market or shopping & drinking on shop street, we decided there was no point choosing a fancy hotel this time.

I chose Eyre Square Hotel because of the unbeatable location and there was a great Christmas package on offer; 2BB1D for 170euro or so.

I was actually pleasantly surprised on arrival! The reception was warm, humble and welcoming. The receptionist stayed stayed while she checked us in which always feels weird as a Guest, like you're really not bothered in having our custom, but other than that it was pretty fine.

A week before, I called the hotel to book our dinner. At the same time, I asked if it was possible to rent movies from the bedroom TV and I was told that it wasn't. However, the receptionist I spoke with on the phone, Dee, went out of her way to make sure there was a DVD put in our room upon arrival. Great touch!

Room 204a was spacious and clean with a view over the christmas market. Bed was comfortable and good tea & coffee facilities.

The room was very cold but we didn't say anything until the following 1st morning. A fan heater was sent straight up to us which solved the issue.

The bathroom I'm sure is a common complaint for the Hotel. It is spacious but needs at the very least a lick of paint. It is also freezing cold and due to having no vent or fan, the whole room steams up and gets drenched after a shower. The only way to get rid of the steam is to open the window, which isn't ideal when it's december and you're in a towel..! We also had to use a towel to mop up the bathroom floor each time as the steam soaked it too. I would highly recommend the hotel owners invest a solution for this.

We only made it for breakfast on the first morning and it was gorgeous. Our server was polite and friendly but not in-you-face, so we could nurse our hangovers in peace. (That same server was doing a night shift too; I spotted her and said it to her and she was so lovely with a professional work-ethic. Well done!)

Dinner was included in the package and we booked this for our 2nd night. The restaurant is situated up the stairs from the bar. It wasn't as busy as I thought it would be at 8:30 on a friday night. The menu was A La Carte with plenty of choice. Our server was a tall guy with glasses who also looked after the bar. The service he provided was perfect; he was naturally polite, prompt, charming, non-invasive and informative about the dishes and wines. I hope management are taking notice of him; I have been in hospitality for years and can tell you that employees like him are hard to find.

We were 15mins late checking out; I'm wondering if that had an effect on the receptionist. She was fine I guess, but didn't ask how our stay was or invite us back or wish us a merry christmas or acknowledge that a heater had to be sent to our room or anything. It's not a big deal, but these kind of things, manners and customer service, don't cost the hotel money and genuinely go a long way.

Anyway, the pro's outweigh the con's. Comfortable stay with GREAT food and good service from three people in particular as mentioned above.

Room Tip: 204a was large and spacious
