“A Pleasant Find!”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

We spent a couple of hours in Galway City Museum on our recent visit to Ireland. We thoroughly enjoyed the archaeological exhibits where we learned some history of this area. My husband was completely enthralled by the Galway Hooker boat on display along with the background information about its history and place in Galway's everyday life.

This museum offers a nice way to spend a few leisurely hours.

“Small but good”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

This is a small museum in the centre of Galway. There are a number of displays of items found in the local area and the history of the area. The large boat takes up the whole height of the building.

We stopped into the museum after breakfast today. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. We were surprised how much we enjoyed this tiny little museum!

“Small but interesting.”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

This is a very small museum but it's near the Spanish arch and the waterside, so you can spend an hour or so wandering around. They have an interesting display, a traditional timber boat and the history explaining the role this type of vessel played in the districts transport and fishing industry.
