This little cafe looks onto the square in Gort, on a nice day you can sit outside where they always have fresh flowers on the tables, service is courteous and quick, everything is cooked to order, no fish or burgers left on a serve over. Good Fish and Chips for €8.

Would highly recommend for a fresh experience with good prices.

Stopped by here (the one in Galway City) with 2 friends for a quick bite after the pub. Have never been before so decided to try it out after some great word of mouth. 3 fish 3 chips 2 bottles of water almost €30 - I don't mind paying if the food is worth it but it was not! The chips were ok, but the fish was awful. The oil must have been filthy as my friends cod was inedible. The batter had chunks of burnt black "stuff" from previous old food in the fryer. My fish was a bit better but very greasy. The waitress did not seem interested. A pretend posh take out that's not worth it.

My wife and I spent a week in Gort, and ate several meals at the Kettle of Fish in the center of town. The curry-cheese chips were our favorite item, but the fish is also top notch, and the cheeseburgers were among the best I've ever eaten from a restaurant. The service was courteous and pretty fast, but everything is cooked to order -- and worth the few minutes' wait!

Other reviewers have noted how great the fish and chips are. I stopped in here for a late lunch with my husband, and he got a wonderful seafood plate. My spouse takes his seafood seriously! His plate had several kinds of fish, including salmon, as well as some mussels and oysters. It was delicious, and pan cooked rather than deep fried. We had trolled around the neighborhood looking for the best value on oysters, and think this was the place. It is BYOB and the owner is very friendly. We felt very welcome and plan to return! If you are not a seafood lover, there are other options available, including veggie burgers, chicken, etc.

I go here with friends for a casual dinnner. You can bring your own wine/beer so it makes it very economical. The fish is very fresh, delicious and can be deep fried or grilled. There are also some non-fish options.

Highly recommended.
