Really enjoyed our stay in salthill. Campsite is so close to several beaches and some good luck with the weather meant we had a memorable weekend. It won't be long till we will be back. toilets, showers and kitchen were all clean. Nice to wake up looking out onto the Atlantic.

We try to get in at least one trip to the Salthill Caravan Park every year and have been doing so since 1981. Our most recent was the weekend of 7th to the 9th of June. What a surprise we were in for the upgrade of the facilities since our last visit in 2012 had to be seen to be believed. The pitches are now very level and the on pitch grey water outlet is much appreciated. The site was up to it's normal high standard of cleanness with very neatly cut grass and sparkling toilets and shower. Not a blade of grass out of place, and all the hottest of water you could ask for all for 1 euro home from home. We arrived on Friday evening on our own and members of our family arrived on Sunday the weather was so good they could not stay away. They were welcomed with open arms by Sean and his team and had around four hours of enjoyable time when we all headed off to the beach and back for a BBQ. This was all at no extra charge the hospitality was very much appreciated by ourselves three small children and four extra adults. The Kids could not be dragged away from the playground which also has seen a huge upgrade. I thought my granddaughter would wear out her bottom on the slide. Hope to be back soon super site in an ideal location so close to so much to do but the weather was so good for the weekend we only went from the site to the beach and back all weekend, and all this only about an hour down the motor way from Clara. Thanks to all in Salthill for one of our best weekends in over 30 years of caravanning. We will be back. One gripe when we decide at the last minute on a Friday evening to head off for the weekend it is not possible to reserve a pitch in this park but then this is the case with to many Caravan parks in Ireland. regards John W

We went here for the first time last weekend june 8th and it will most definitely be our last. We have a camper van and assumed we would be getting a hardstand as was advertised for this season! We were told to park on grass and another row parked behind us, there were dogs allowed to run loose and a charge for hot water to wash up. This was on top of the €30 site fee and extra for shower which wouldnt supply enough water to wash a cat!! It was totally overcrowded no privacy and badly managed. And very overpriced for this site. Would not recommend it at all.

We camped here this weekend and I have to say we had the most enjoyable weekend. The place is spotless. The facilities are excellent. It has a fantastic playground. The beach is a ten minute walk. The staff were very helpful. It is very peaceful and safe. We will DEFINITELY be back. OH and the €1 shower provided lots of lovely hot water and plenty of it so can't agree with those earlier negative reviews on the showers. Well done Salthill Caravan Park. Great service.

Went here for the first time in June 2013, and it was so good we went back a week later.
Have 2 small kids so the playground was invaluable, as was the circular drive all round which meant they could use their bikes. The well observed speed limit meant that we knew they were safe. Also its secured by CCTV and the entrance is watched by the owner constantly. Theres an (enthuastic!) security guard @ night.

A very clean campsite with fully tarmac'ed pitches and fantastic views of the bay. Very nice atmosphere too, as there were some seasoned regulars who provide assistance when required to rookie newbies (i.e. us!).
Close proximity to Galway city, Salthill, Silver Strand, Barna etc and beyond meant that an amount of amenities are within walking/cycling distance, so you need never move your car.

Joyce's Supermaket is only round the corner, which saves going into town, and its massive. It has an off-license and there is a pharmacy there too.

Showers are clean, and there are 2 toilet blocks.

The SAORVIEW reception was top notch, as was 3G broadband access.

We will certainly go back.

Tips:
Get there early to avoid disappointment - its first-come-first-served. But once you get in - the fact that it is not huge adds to the atmosphere and the safety aspect for the kids.

The view @ the front is breathtaking but try and get a berth away from it if you have small kids - to be safe.

N.B. Make sure you pull in to the right caravan park! Its not the first one that you hit when exiting Salthill. We got lucky as the "other" one was full when we pulled in thinking it was Salthill Caravan Park. Maybe could do with some more obvious sign posting. Maybe circulate the GPS co-ordinates for tourists with SatNavs?

Bring a long power cable. But that goes for any park.

We returned to Salthill Caravan Park last weekend and hopefully it will be one of many trips to this park again this summer. I have to concur with the reviewer Adrian D dated 6th May 2013 the transformation and work done is splendid. The caravan park was very busy last weekend and yet it was still peaceful and quiet, we put this down to good management of this site and always feel safe and secure here. The views are stunning, only a short walk from Salthill village and Galway is a 20 minute walk or a few minutes by bus from the roadside outside the caravan park. We have stayed many many times over the years and have never had a problem and hope to return for many more years. Keep up the good work Sean and staff.

On arrival we were greeted by the owner &we had a pleasant check in & we received a free voucher book which had lots of discounts to use in the Galway area. We thought this was a nice touch.then we were shown to our pitch. Our pitch had fantastic view of the ocean. The park itself looked like it had been newly tarmac'd & paved.the facilities on site were extremely clean & there was plenty of hot water despite the comments in previous reviews. There is also a lovely kids playground with swings & slides etc. We found the staff on site very pleasant & helpful.they couldn't have done anything else to make our stay a relaxing & peaceful one. There is also a security guard at nite which made us feel very secure. The location is great with a beautiful walk by the ocean to the center of salthill. There was also free WiFi on site. Overall I could not fault this beautiful well maintained caravan park & we will definitely return.
