We had a great stay at the hotel. The hotel is very close to the city center (we loved Galway, must be the best city in Ireland). There is free parking in an underground parking garage.

When walking in, the hotel has a great look and feel to it. The staff was wonderful. The room was great as well. We loved the very comfortable very large king-size bed - you just don't want to get out of bed once you're in it. Add to that the black-out curtains and we just had a wonderful sleep. The living room area with couch and lounge chair is nice, although I didn't understand the position of the big Sony LCD TV on the wall, located opposite another wall in between the bedroom and living room areas; this made it not as comfortable to see from the living room (and impossible to see from the bedroom). The bathroom is not that big but decent.

We really enjoyed the wonderful breakfast as well.

I attended the IALC Galway Workshop which took place from 26th April - 2nd May 2010 in the Radisson Blu Hotel.
The hotel organised the full conference and Galway Cultural Institute was the host school. There were 260 delegates staying in the Radisson over 6 nights. Delegates came from all over the world - New Zealand, US, China, Brazil, UK, Europe etc. The quality of the food - breakfast, lunch and dinner was unparalleled, tasty and very varied. It was immeasurable better than any of the three previous locations for the conference - Milan, Munich and Cape Town. Service was excellent and beyond compare and everyone - Raj, John, Claire, Joan and all staff were welcoming, efficient and thoroughly on top of their roles. The last night was the gala and it was fabulous. 320 delegates indulged in a sumptious banquet and when the chefs excelled themselves - one course was more delicious than the previous one. It is easily the best hotel I have ever stayed in for excellent service, food and entertainment. The extra night we stayed in the hotel was crowded by going to the Paul Brady concert in the hotel.

We wanted a relaxing stay in a nice hotel room and to make the most of a well stocked mini-bar, but what we got was a room with a shabby bathroom and mini-bar containing out of date stock.

I had booked a 1 night stay for my partners Birthday during the Bank Holiday weekend at the start of May. Upon check-in, front desk asked if they could put a hold on my credit card for an extra €65, in addition to the room charge. They explained that this was hotel policy and would allow us to avail of room service. I thought it was strange that a hotel expected me to trust them putting an additional hold on my card, but they can’t trust their guests to settle their bills at check-out. I declined to authorize the additional hold and, as a result, we were unable to avail room service.

First impressions of the room were that it was clean and nicely decorated. However, the window sill was covered in a layer of grit and dust and there were several cigarette burns in the net Curtin. I can understand the dirty sill, as this could be easily missed by house keeping, but I was a little surprised at the burn marks considering it was a non-smoking room.

The bathroom had a shabby appearance and was in need of some re-decoration. There was a hole in the wall tiling over the toilet and this had been stuffed with tissue paper. The architrave around the door had been severely damaged by water from the shower and the veneer finish was pealing away. The connection between the shower hose and wall fixture constantly leaked water when using the shower. Also, as it had been equipped for a disabled person’s needs, we constantly had to stoop down to use the sink and face mirror.

The mini-bar was poorly stocked, which contained no wine and one expired snack item. The majority of the beverages were well past their expiry dates. These ranged from:
• Cans of Heineken expired since March 10
• Cans of Coke expired since February 10
• Bottles of Orange Juice expired since January 10
• A can of Red Bull expired since November 2009

I was surprised that the Hotel could allow for such an amount of expired material to be made available to their guests. Surely if someone had checked the dating of the mini-bar contents at some stage over the past 6 months, then some of this material would have been removed.

I informed front-desk of the situation during check-out. Although the clerk apologized for the inconvenience and discounted the bill by €40, I still feel very strongly about the standard we experienced. I certainly wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. There’s simply no excuse for providing beverages that are up to 6 months out of date and stuffing holes in bathroom walls with tissue paper.

Just like to write a review about the Galway Radisson hotel, Having stayed two nights with my girlfriend i would & will recommend this hotel to both friends and family to stay. The staff were very helpful and polite at all times from check in to check out. Just one example, having bought a drink in the hotel bar one of the barstaff noticed a small problem with my drink (nothing major i might add) but it was replaced straight away. The room we stayed in was one of the best hotel bedrooms I have ever stayed in. Photos don't do them justice, the view from our room was looking out onto the sea (lough atalia) which was beautiful. we noticed a couple of swams swimming around, we also got great pleasure watching a Heron bird fishing below us on the water's edge. the bed itself seemed to form around your body, which gave a very pleasent sleep. Will be back again. Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful stay 5/5

Stayed here for one night on a business trip. Check in was fast and friendly. The room was lovely and well equipped. The location was excelllent, 2 minutes walk to Eyre Square but very quiet. The area seemed a bit dodgy at night as it was beside the railway and bus stations. The buffet breakfast was excellent. There is free parking for residents which is a bonus. Hope to come back some day on a leisure trip.
