“Dispicable”
Reviewed 20 November 2011

Their was a big group of us there for the weekend (20 plus) and we were treated really badly they didnt keep their word they put random people in our rooms and went in without our permission. some of us were forced to sleep on matresses on the floor. our property was stolen as the people running it left the keys in the door when we were all out and they were rude about our queries when we tried to talk to them about it. the night manager came in when we were all sleeping and began shining a torch in all our faces and repeatedly turned the lights on in the rooms when we were sleeping at 5 in the morning. one other guest who was older kept trying to sell us drugs and he was also using derogitory terms towards us as a large number of us were gay/bi ect and when we told the management they done nothing about it. galway is a great city but this one experience that was not expected. avoid this place like the plague

I stayed in this hostel for a weekend with 42 other people while we were attending a confrence in NUIG. The staff were so rude and disrespectfull. ( esspecaialy julie the owner) the night manager let people who wernt part of our group in to our rooms, where we had a number of items stolen. The service we recived from this hostel was totaly unacceptable and we have lodged an official complaint with the tourist board.

Where to start....Cramped rooms, unclean, smelly, tiny bathrooms, no hot water for showers, unfriendly and ignorant staff, some of our party had to sleep on matresses on the floor...and those are the best points!

Some of our group had drink stolen from the 'safe' fridge in the kitchen, one had a camera stolen from the room, another had a phone taken after leaving it on the table downstairs for less than 2 mins, the owners reaction? 'Tough'.

The night manager was a nightmare, constantly shouting at the group, coming into the rooms without knocking, and putting random people into our prebooked rooms at all hours, shining a torch into peoples faces while they slept while counting very loudly to check how many were in the room....several times throughout the night.

Apart from the items stolen, others were casually offered drugs over the kitchen table by apparent friends of the night manager, who himself was very noisey all night and could be heard through the very thin floors having a party.

I cannot stress enough how much this place should be avoided and they will not be booked by our group for any future events in Galway.

Terrible.

Room Tip: There are no 'good' rooms. So I wouldn't recommend any of them.

This was the worst experience i have ever had in hostel. We got there and was first told that there was a key deposit, of which was never mentioned. Then we were told we would only have one key per room, even though there was 10 of us to a room and we did not all know each other, and when we asked to be let in to our rooms, the staff had an attitude and even threw the keys across at us.

That night we got back and others in the hostel were starting to come in to, we had to wait in the rain to be let in, and then to be let into our rooms, was not allowed use the common room, and some people were told to drink upstairs instead which was against their policy, and then proceeded to shout at people for drinking upstairs afterwards.

We got in to bed and evert twenty minutes or so, a member of staff barged into our room, shining torches in our faces, and telling people who were just chatting to "shut the f**k up" this went on until half five in the morning. When a guy that was also staying in our room wanted to go outside for a cigarette, the man would not let him out and said he was going to lock us into our room!! we could not even leave to got to the toilet.
eventually at half 5 after been woken up numerous times, and having torches shone in our faces, and the room lights turned on again and again, exhausted one of the girls asked him to leave.
it was ridiculous. All the staff were rude, and very intimidating, the "night manager" or man with the torch was completely unapproachable and we were actually a bit frightened of him. We Got absolutely no sleep.

Some who had booked beds, had none and were expected to sleep on a mattress on the floor.
Also, he had given some peoples beds to others, and their belongings on the floor.
He left the rooms unlocked also when people were not there, whoever had the key, would lock it and if we forgot something and went back, he had unlocked the rooms
as soon as we left. Anyone could walk in and go through our stuff. Two peoples phones were stolen and a camera while we were there, that were in bags in the rooms.

The Second night, i came back and a complete stranger was in my bed!
No one knew who he was, and there was nowhere for me to sleep, even though the bed had been paid for.

A disgraceful hostel, and where the building was concerned, no hot water, smelled of damp, and really musty.

This has to be the worst hostel ever!

I'm just home from here. It is the worst place ever. I was in a room with 4 lads, all my friends. We payed extra for the Other bed for two nights but they forced us to have someone stay in with us. They barged in the door withOut knocking when I was changing. Constantly coming into our room. Dower was cold, bathroom tiny. Beds were a death trap. We checked out and left our bags there for two hours until the train, we were told the bags should be ok but he wasn't sure and the room smelled like a wet dog got sick, ate it and pooed it back out. I would not reccomemd anybody go here, they are thieving, conniving liars.

Stayed here for one night during the BH weekend. It was ok for what we needed which was somewhere to crash in after a long day drinking after the races.

If thats what you want this is perfect. Good location. Clean. Shower. And cheap.
