I had a bunk in a 4 bed dorm (about EUR27). Comfortable enough, clean enough and just spacious enough. En suite would have benefitted from a night light or something rather than risk wakening up the dorm messing with main lights. Room overlooked Quay Street, which is noisy for a good hour or so after closing time, and then again when the street cleaners arrive in the morning. Had I not consumed enough beer beforehand, it may just have kept me awake, but frankly in Galway, that would have been my own fault. Staff were friendly and helpful for the limited interaction I had with them. Coffee and toast in the morning was welcome if not entirely necessary.

Not the best hostel we have stayed in. The rooms were a bit small and we had to go through a bunch of turning hallways to get to the room. The room had ensuite bathroom with a separate room for the toilet and the shower, which is a good idea. The bathrooms were visibly moldy though and did not smell pleasant. We were in a good location for going out to pubs at night, however it was also very noisy if you did want to sleep. They supply earplugs which is nice, but they ran out of them by the time we came in so we had to do without. Breakfast was just toast and jam. Kitchen was pretty small as well. We only stayed one night, but we would try a different hostel if we went back to Galway.

Barnacles Hostel Galway was an excellent place to stay. It was very centrally located and directly across the street from one of the best, most popular bars in Galway (Quay's Bar). Also next to many great restaurants and walking distance to all Galway attractions. The staff was excellent and extremely helpful. My friend and I arrived early on a Thursday morning around 8 a.m. and booked a trip to the Cliffs of Moher with the front desk staff for that same day at 11:00 a.m. (with discount I might add). The rooms were very clean and the beds were comfortable as well. We stayed in a four person room with a private bathroom. This room had four lockable wire baskets that slid underneath the beds which provided a very convenient place to store our belongings. I would definitely recommend this hostel to others staying in Galway. Great price, location and quality.

Location is great! You cannot find better situation. But the hostel is very small, kitchen is not the best. Although the staff is very nice! Galway is really a place to stay two or more days since you're close to Connemara, Aran Islands and so on.

A group of us stayed for a stag weekend in late august and the location was 1st class, the girl who checked us in could not have been nicer, rooms were spotless with en-suite,the guy that checked us out sun morning was very pleasant and polite,a great stay and value.

Room Tip: Two steps out the door and you are surrounded by pubs and food, could not be handier.
