“Sleep on the street..it will be quieter and cooler.”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

We stayed at the Imperial Hotel in Galway for two nights. The front staff was less than helpful, the air-conditioning's in the rooms that we used did not work (however, the power light flashed all night long in one room keeping everyone awake), the only way to avoid some of the heat was to open the window, and then we heard the sound of machinery running all night long. The beds were very uncomfortable, and there was no remote for the TV. The staff and management at the hotel are Indind need of training in social skills and customer service. Of all the hotels and Golway, you would be advised to select another. I gave this one circle rating because there was nothing lower.

Room Tip: Look elsewhere.

Staff ok. Could do with a bit more training in social skills. Cant get cooked breakfast to 9.30 very strange cold buffet from 7.30 to 9.30 as any were i have stayed when breakfast starts it starts?? For any big groups going to galway split up into groups of two or you wont get into any pubs after 10pm. Staff in this hotel dont tell anyone this happens when asked were they would recommend for the night out. Still the hotel is very average i popped across the road for my breakfast on the sunday morning as i could not get a cooked one at 9am. At 70 euro pps its not quite right. I was awake so early as there was a party goin on up to 8am in the room below. I will not alone stay in this hotel again i will never be in galway again. Very unfriendly people all round. Give us the money and go!!!

Room Tip: dont know!!

The location of this hotel is second to none.
The staff were very rude and ignorant in the bar. The receptionist on check in was very nice and friendly. The rooms were large and comfortable. I had a lot of noise from the corridor and from the rear of the hotel due to deliveries etc (I was in room 318). The showers were awful either freezing cold or roasting hot! no middle! Also the ceiling was completely damp stained!
I'm generally not a fan of just a continental breakfast, but was very pleasantly surprised, had great choice and was very happy all in all.
I would still return to this hotel despite all the bad bits, the location is the best!

We stayed for a total of four days and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff were superb and gave us excellent travel tips and made our stay extremely comfortable. Breakfast was better than expected and the variety on offer was excellent. The bed was extremely comfortable and storage was adequate for my wife and I. Overall no hesitation in recommending the hotel which is ideally located l for the town centre and all its attractions.

Room Tip: Avoid the front if possible as it is opposite the taxi rank, which does get noisy in the evening and...

Stayed here (again!) for St Patrick's. Fab location - fab bedrooms, staff cheerful and helpful - come on people these guys work extremely hard and long hours and I have had no problems with any of them or the service that they provide,
Second time staying here - bang in the centre of Galway :) walking distance to the abundance of bars and restaurants. If you do need a taxi for any reason - the taxi rank is right outside the hotel!
Breakfast served on the first floor - ok yes its continental but if you need a cooked one there's always the option of purchasing one in the restaurant downstairs.
Rooms are very well heated but you do have air con - just make sure to read the instructions first (you have to ring front desk for it to be activated) - our mistake! But then again it was Paddy's weekend and we were fairly well cooked ourselves by the time we got in!!

The only fault I can speak of - and its nothing that the hotel can do - there is a fast food outlet next door - Supermacs. this is open till the early hours at a weekend so be prepared for large numbers of revellers. The hotel is locked at night but the night porter is on hand at the front desk to let you in. Don't let this put you off - after all you are staying in a city centre!!

Excellent value excellent location what more do you want!

We stayed here on Patricks weekend. We said that we would have food in the bar. I had the so called roast beef that came out with salad on a hot plate!!! The beef had to been cooked days before hand as for the vegetables they must have been cooked days and days before hand. I said it too the staff and all he could say was sorry about that. Wake up and see what kind of dog for your chef is sending out!!!!!
