after looking at the reviews recommending the suites we decided to upgrade, we were delighted we did and it definitely made our stay. The pool was lovely and not too deep, plenty to amuse the kids. Its ideal for families so will recommend the hotel to friends and family, It is just a quick bus ride away from the hub of eyre square. I found the room very quiet, which is very important when you are staying where there are lots of familys, for me a big plus. The suite was great, so much so, my son is staying there next month, clarissa was very helpful and we hope to visit again next year

Room Tip: the suites are well worth it, try and get a good deal, you will be glad of the space

Newly decorated rooms and bathrooms. Evening meal in the bar.was excellant .I had the THai Curry There is also food available throughout the day if required. It has a large comforable bar and had a group playing in the bar on the evening. Service at the bar was poor ,bar staff seem to want to avoid eye contact.I saw people moving location in order to catch the attention of the bar staff. Breakfast is a buffet style and very well run and food was great.. overall an enjoyable stay ,just a little more customer focus from bar staff.

This is a good 3 star hotel, and very popular with families, so if its a quiet romantic stay you are looking for, keep looking. The staff were all pleasant and polite.
The bar food is served in a designated area, so you may be seated beside guests you would ordinarily avoid.
The room we had was ordinary, so keep expectations in check.
The corridors are very long so if you have mobility issues, ask for a room nearer a lift.
Breakfast is a bit manic and all self service (and I mean ALL self service).
Overall this is not a bad place to stay. It is very affordable and the hotel is to be commended for offering reasonable rates in these cash strapped times!

The Connacht hotel is a large full service hotel located just a 20 minute walk from Eyre Square, Galway City. You can have a good evening meal in either the restaurant or in the bar. There is also food available throughout the day plus vending machines if required. It has a large comforable bar and had a pleasant group playing in the bar on the evening I visited. Service at the bar was hit and miss as I noted several people changing location in order to catch the attention of the bar staff. That said the staff are very pleasant and overall it's a good spot. Breakfast is a buffet style with the typical offerings of an Irish hotel i.e. emphasis on the traditional Irish fry. There are also cereals, breads and fruits available. Rooms are comfortable and clean but views are limited - we were looking at a parking garage. Wifi is free thoughout the hotel. The pool area is nice, kid friendly and I noted that it was supervised which is not always the case in other hotels. It has both surface and underground parking available free. We used the latter as it is a quick way to get to the rooms in A wing. I mentioned it is a large hotel so the walk to the room can be a hike! The room rates are reasonable and overall a very recommendable hotel.

Room Tip: I booked directly with the hotel so worth asking about room location/view at that time especially if...

Stayed there for 2 nights with one night evening meal in the Connacht restaurant, last Monday and Tuesday night. The restaurants are a joke, undercooked bacon. Very poor food.Kept running out of the likes of sausages and then there would be large queues. Bread, juice not topped up.
The connacht restaurant just as bad, ordered medium steak, got cremated steak with chips to follow 5 minutes later, kids meal came after we ate, i ordered chicken which had been left under the hot lamp too long, thick hard crust on top accompanied by crusty mash potatoes.
If i hadn't paid for this on arrival, would have back the lot.
Very dated the hotel. Swimming pool was cold and grotty.
In its favour, the room was clean and the staff were friendly. Restaurant manager required urgently and not another kid in a suit !!!!
