We bought a Group On deal for a two night stay at the Connacht. What a disappointment! The hotel was stifling hot therefore very uncomfortable. We had requested a jug of iced water to our room the first night and after waiting over an hour went and got it ourselves. The double bed was very small and the quilt did not cover the whole bed, very uncomfortable. It was probably just as well given the excessive heat in the room.

You could not sit and have a proper conversation in the bar on the Saturday as there was a large screen down showing sport with the volume up high but nobody was actually watching. The bar was packed with Hen's and Stag's so noise level from them was very high also. The staff looked busy but actually trying to get someone's attention to order anything was impossible and then service was lack lustre.

If you want a locker key for the pool you have to give in your room card. That was fine until we came out of the pool and they had lost our room card! We had to go to reception to ensure the lost card was deactivated and get new ones, all this with no apology.

It was just as well we were awoken early on the Sunday morning by kids running up and down the corridor shouting as if we had been any later that 10 am going to breakfast we would have had to queue up the corridor. They had set up a rope barrier and there was a long queue. I would have been very unhappy to have come down to have to queue like that. They even were seating people in the bar for breakfast!!

Lesson learned, a cheap deal is not always a good deal!!!

Room Tip: It would appear, having spoken to others who have stayed here, the rooms numbered in the 3000's...

Bought a one night stay with dinner here through living social deals. It was ment to be a romantic stay for me and my partner but it ended up being one not great thing after another, Firstly, very few of the photos of the place actually existed when we arrived. We got allocated a really horrible room at the ground floor woth 2 locked doors leading in to the rooms next door and a locked door leading out to a grassed area and a wall.. So no way of fresh air. I asked for a change and we got told we could only have a room with wiew of the back, even though it seemed like the hotel was empty! The room was cold, no shampoo or the like, no heating so had to ask for a portable heater. The dinner service was terrible! We bought a nice bottle of wine and the waiter just plonked it on our table, came back few min later with two glasses and left us to do the opening of it.. The dinner was really tasteless and sauses came in little paper tubs and plastic packages. The next day we realised we didnt have any hot water in our bathroom and when we arrived at the pool area it was closed for maintainence.. Im only in my early 30 s and i dont expect much, but i feel its not ok when you come home more tired and stressed out then before you left..

Stayed in this hotel for two nights with my wife and two kids and mother in law. Had booked two rooms. Both rooms were spacious and are ideal for families. We had a large bedroom with separate living area and kitchen. With two kids it gives you that added space you would not get in a normal hotel room.

Food was excellent both for breakfast and dinner. Also ordered room service which was prompt and tasty.

The bar area was quite large and spacious and good and lively without been too noisy.

I used the pool with my daughter and was impressed by the pool as it caters for both young and old and is clean. Gym also available to guests.

The Connacht is a great hotel in an ideal location and well worth a visit. Staff are friendly and especial word of thanks to Sarah Comer one of the hotel managers there.

We stayed here for a weekend and found the hotel more than adequate. Our rooms were well appointed and large but had no outlook if you were there during the day. The breakfast was a 'help yourself' buffet with a good choice. The public areas were well looked after. The downside is that it is a fair walk into Galway itself although there is a bus. Unfortunately the bus to Shannon airport doesn't stop there so you end up going in to Galway and then finding a bus to go back to the hotel.

We stayed here for two nights whilst attending a family event. Rooms were large and comfortable, with all anticipated facilities: tea, coffee making; iron and board; trouser press; hair dryer; lockable safe. Restaurants and bars welcoming and food good. Will definitely stay again.
