“A good value family break”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

Stayed here with my wife and two children for a summer break. The hotel is big and has plenty of free parking out front. There is a good sized pool which we used every day. The pool was pretty busy at times but the children loved it. The hotel was very busy when we stayed with the vast majority families with children and a number of bus tours. The restaurant and bar was very busy each evening so booking was essential. The food in the bar was ok, nothing to write home about just ok. The staff in the hotel were very nice and helpful. The hotel is located just outside the center of the city but there was always taxis waiting outside. Overall I would recommend the hotel for couples with children especially during school holidays. I wouldn't stay here for a romantic break just because it's very popular with young families.

Room Tip: Try and get a room away from the lifts for noise.

If you are going to the Races this Hotel is a great place to stay. Near to the course and only a walk to the great City of Galway.
Food was of a very good standard, staff very friendly and room clean. The downside was the location of the room-D Wing! The room overlooked the recycling area of the Hotel and tended to be noisy in the mornings, if we returned again would not like to stay in this area.
Bottom line----Would we stay at this Hotel again?---Yes

Room Tip: Stay away from D Wing

Great hotel, stayed in a suite and it was perfect for a girls weekend away! Leisure center was great and we made good use of it!
The only negative was that we were in a ground floor suite and there was no key to the patio door (we had smokers in our group) and despite ringing reception numerous times and been told each time someone was on their way up to open door, they never arrived.. it was only the following morning that the fantastic porter Seamus told us that the key could not be located, that honesty would have been appreciated the night before. In saying that meeting Seamus really brightened up our weekend, what a fantastic character and an asset to the hotel!
We will definitely stay in the hotel again!

Poor first impression with queue for checking in and then to be told checking in was 3:30 PM, the latest, I think, that I have ever encountered in Ireland. Explanation given was that "they were a big hotel" !! Also I had to manually complete a detailed check in form from scratch, usually prepopulated with names and addresses etc but not here. Helps explain the queue! Room was quite large, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was highly acceptable. Location poor as 35 minutes walk from city centre, and I am a good walker. All in all, I would suggest that there are better, more central hotels. I only went there due to difficulty getting accommodation in race week.

Me and my girlfriend stayed here for the galway races. The pros are:hotel was near racecourse, hotel itself is nice and the food was good. The bad: we travelled from Dublin and arrived at 9.30am, we were told at reception check in was 3.30pm...the races start at 5pm. We asked was there a chance we could check in a bit early so as to get ready and also allowing for traffic while getting to racetrack....point blank no come back at 3.30 and if wanted we were free to use the toilets to get ready!! We left to kill some time and in meantime rang back twice and told still no room until 3.30. Went back to hotel at 1.30,sat in lobby to wait,we watched as a gentleman walked straight in hotel to the reception and to our disgust checked in. We went straight to reception and were told again our room wasnt ready,we pointed out we just seen a gentleman check in and we had me waiting 4hrs at this point....the girl did another "check" and as if by magic she had another room ready! We got back to the room that night the mattress had a wet patch right in the middle we had to put a towel over and sleep on it! This hotel seems to have double standards and for 200e a night during race week we got dreadful service. Wont be back

We had a great week here in July. The staff were very friendly and there were loads of kids for our 4 year old to play with. The room was very spacious with a double and single bed. The food in the restaurant was lovely and we eat there most days. The swimming pool in the leisure centre looked very impressive and there was a kids pool as well. We will be back.

An evening arrival for a one night stay & even though there were a lot of cars already parked, we had no problem in finding a space in the hotel’s outdoor car park. In to the hotel & check in which was slow, even with several staff on duty, owing to the volume of people that were already queuing to check in. It was obvious already that the hotel must have been quite full & also obvious that there were a lot of families there. When we did get checked in it was straight to our room.
A decent sized room with a comfortable double bed, tv, full length mirror, iron & ironing board, safe, hairdryer, smoke alarm, dresser, chairs, tea & coffee. A few negative points as wifi was quite poor, the room was hot & opening the window was the only option to try to cool it down but that made little difference & finally, the noise from the corridor outside of our room caused by people on the way back to their rooms, talking loudly & without any consideration for other guests, was quite annoying.
The bathroom was okay with fixed head shower with good pressure, toiletries, towels, large mirror & shaving socket.
We spent an hour or so in the hotel bar which was busy & where it was difficult to get seated, though we managed it.
Breakfast was ok. Busy when we went down at around 0945 but we got a table fairly quickly. A full fry, cereals, toast, tea, coffee, fruit juice etc.
We didn’t use the hotel leisure centre.
Location wise, the hotel is approx 20 – 25 minutes walk from Eyre Square & there is a cinema complex & Eddie Rockets diner no more than 5 minutes walk away.
To be honest, there are much better hotels in Galway that are actually closer to the centre & this hotel would have to put in a big effort to get to their level. Would I return? Probably not
