We found the Pie Maker by accident while strolling the streets of Dublin. We had intended to head to a pub but saw the Pie Maker and loved the look of the place. Their are nice touches in the decor and the folks working the kitchen and counter (all two of them) were very nice.

We had the Chicken Curry, the Veg and the Chorizo pies. All were delicious. My wife and daughter came back the next day for lunch. The restaurant is tiny inside - three booths I think - so you might have to get your pie to go, but have a seat if you can. It's a nice break from the busy streets right outside. And they carry great ginger beer as well.

I've wanted to write a review for this fabulous little place for quite some time now, so here goes:
Off the beaten track of standard tourist eaters, hiding around the corner from the end of Shop Street, you can almost walk past it. It is one of my wintertime favourites. The pies are fresh but reheated at purchase, which doesn't make them less delicious. The range is small but there is always at least one vegetarian option, and everything tastes homemade and good. Best thing is to share first a savoury and then a sweet pie with a friend, this way you get more lovely flavours!
Do try the mash and gravy with your pie - you might as well, the salad won't save you enough calories to make up for the pie anyway ;-)
Now to my favourite part: The interior.
Oh my, even if you don't want a pie, please have a look at this amazingly charming interior!
It is the most beautifully done classic, nostalgic British pub scene, with a green wooden counter, shelves on the stone walls, black and white floor tiles, and - pièce de résistance! - a copperplated ceiling!
The owner did all this himself (well, with a little help from some friends I suppose)!
Seating is available, and the wall by the tables is decorated with wallpaper displaying an antique world map. The place is located in one of Galway's really old stone houses that you can find in the city centre.
Be aware that there are no toilets (at least weren't when we were last there) and that you eat not from a plate but with plastic cutlery out of a box. Considering the overall charm, this shouldn't bother you though.
Staff are friendly and enthusiastic and everything is good value.

In a nutshell: Popping in is worth it even if you don't want to buy anything - but you will as soon as you see the pies. Love it!

Tiny little cafe specializing in tasty savory pies (meat or vegetarian) as well as sweet pies like apple or rhubarb. Just a small cut place with a few tables, but we were able to sit down when we went in on a busy Thursday evening, even though it's just off the main shopping streets. Beef and Galway Stout pie with mash potatoes and mushy peas was delicious.

Had a late lunch here today of chicken curry pie, and got it with the salad, though they snuck in a little mash anyways, and it was so good! Definitely have to visit here when in Galway!

Delicious.
Great pies. Great service from a young lady who was charming and funny.
She pointed out the medieval sculptures on the front of the building, which are worth looking at.
If you are looking for a quick meal without all the pomp and ceremony of a restaurant, it's perfect, delicious and great value for money.
