“My X-Mas Present 2 nights at the G”

From start to finish, we were looked after as we should have been in a five star venue. Parking was free and handy to the lift, the room was in tip top condition with lovely bedding and furniture, the bar was very good along with the food.We enjoyed the spa on the first floor and it was well deserved after our night out in the town, the whole place seemed very different and almost quirky in ambience, having stayed in many hotels all over the world, we would recommend this to anyone. Go and enjoy the "g" Gregg & Geraldine Jan 2014

I recently visited The G Hotel with my boyfriend for an evening. I had booked the fantastic deal for their 8th anniversary through their website with great ease. Check in was quick, friendly and we did not have to wait long. Once we got to our Junior Suite we were stunned and how big the room was and the fireplace and stand alone bath tub were lovely. Between ordering room service and asking for the fire place to be lit each member of staff arrived at the room promptly are were extremely friendly. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was spotless. I would definitely recommend The G Hotel to a friend.

Myself and my partner recently stayed at the g for 2 nights on the birthday deal in the junior suite with late check out. First impression when we walked out of the lifts was luxury. Check in was fine but didn't think the girls gave a 5 star experience. The junior suite was lovely, gas fire was a good touch the sofa wasn't very comfortable well worn and a couple of stains on the carpet overall the room was perfect. We went to the thermal suite at a charge of €10 but was well worth it was very relaxing.breakfast was lovely choice from a menu and a choice at the buffet you could hear a pin drop in the breakfast room and overhear other guests conversations. We Had room service both nights very reasonable and the food was very good. It Was the most relaxing weekend we have ever had and would return.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for choosing to stay with us at the g on our special 8th birthday package. Our Front of House team normally receive constant praise for their warmth and friendliness so it was disappointing to read that you were not entirely impressed with our check in process. Our Thermal Suite in ESPA at the g is a hidden treasure in the hotel and we have recently reduced this facility to €10 per resident if it is not included in their package. It was also nice to read that you were impressed with the menu offerings at breakfast in Restaurant Gigi’s.
Lastly it was so rewarding to read that it was such a relaxing weekend. We too are looking forward to welcoming you back to us.
Kind Regards,

We got a voucher for the g last Xmas and stayed here in July, and after our stay I can safely say I would never stay here If i was paying it for myself! The hotel was nice, but definitely not 5 star! And it is very very over priced!
The room was nice, but as said in previous reviews, the hotel is located in a shopping centre, on the side of the main road, and our room was over looking the parking lot! The complimentary buns were a nice touch, but to be honest for a 5 star, I would expect them to be fresh, they we rock hard and dry!
The g has a great idea, in that you can borrow DVDs for the night from reception, and each room as a list of the DVDs available, it was just a pity that the first 6 DVDs we requested were not available.
When we went down for breakfast in the morning, the table where the fruit, pastries etc are laid out was very minimal as the staff didn't seem to be restocking it for ages, we were waiting for ages for orange juice, and I know this is just a tiny detail, but when you are paying a small fortune for something, you expect the best service.
The cooked breakfast was lovely (when it finally arrived) we were waiting at least 35 mins for it because the printer in the kitchen had broken so our order hadn't gone through, which cannot be avoided....but having said this, not one of the staff noticed we had been waiting so long and eventually we had to call over the manager and ask him where our food was. He was very apologetic and the food was served within minutes, but again, not good enough for a 5 star!
I think the hotel was probably amazing when if first opened but it's getting a bit old now with torn carpets in the hallway and scuff marks on the walls. For me, it's all the small details that make a 5 star what it is and the G is losing it fast! Management needs to pay attention to the smallest of details and make sure the staff are doing everything right in order for it to be a 5 star. And as other reviews stated, it's a bit ridiculous you have to pay extra to use the pool. Save your money, there are definitely nicer hotels around for cheaper.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for sharing some feedback from your recent stay at the g. It was disappointing to read that you were not impressed with certain aspects of your stay. Our Superior or entry level bedrooms do look out towards the back of the hotel. Many of our Deluxe bedrooms and Suites boast stunning views of Lough Atalia, part of Galway Bay, and this is one of the reasons for the supplement they command. It was also disappointing to read that you did not enjoy our freshly baked g buns as these receive constant praise on Trip Advisor.
It was also unfortunate that you were unable to experience our DVD collection and library which is currently being updated. Please also accept our apologies for the delay you encountered at breakfast. We will follow up with our Food and Beverage team to see exactly what happened. We have a rolling maintenance programme for the g. In 2013, we completely renovated and expanded our wedding suite and in 2014 we plan to reinvest in our Signature Lounges. There is a charge of €10 to use our thermal suite as we deliberately keep numbers to a minimum for our guest’s to ensure that there is an atmosphere of relaxation and privacy. We do offer packages which include use of the thermal suite and it is unfortunate that your voucher did not have this added benefit included. We do apologise that you did not feel that you received value for your voucher at the g
We do hope we have addressed your concerns.
Kind Regards,
The g Hotel Management Team

An experience of extremes. Décor and furnishings are bright, refreshing and imaginative tho not particularly expensive. Park in a shared retail park car park - but elevator direct to your floor. Food and drink excellent tho expensive. Spa is excellent with super staff and well worth the 10 Euros. Bedrooms possibly amongst the most comfortable ive stayed in but the major downside is the need to book a seat / table for anything at almost any time??? so if you go into Galway, return and fancy a tea, drink and bite to eat you need to book or wait. This seems to be because either events or neighbouring cinema goers use the facilities so tables are booked and often not used resulting in residents waiting for a table whilst many have "booked" signs on them. We once waited 30 minutes for someone to take our afternoon tea order after waiting 20 minutes for a seat. You cant sit at the bar so nobody can mingle / interface as everyone sit at tables in their groups.
This is an expensive hotel and I don't expect to be put second to a visitor so for me I wont return - but apart from this it was an enjoyable visit despite being 30 mins / 10 Euros from the city centre shops and bars.

Room Tip: We were on the 1st floor adjacent to the Spa. Rooms at the rear will overlook a retail park / wareho...

Dear Guest,
Thank you for sharing some feedback from your recent visit to the g on Trip Advisor. Our Philip Treacy designed hotel receives constant praise and it was disappointing to read that you did not completely enjoy the concept of the g. It was lovely to read that you enjoyed your time in ESPA at the g, our award winning Spa, as well as your time in our luxurious guest bedrooms.
Over the festive period the hotel was exceptionally busy and we do apologise that you experienced delays in our Signature Lounges. We always allocate areas for our guests but over the Christmas and New Year period we were incredibly busy and this was not always possible. However we do hope that you will reconsider and stay with us the next time you are visiting Galway.
Kind Regards,
The g Hotel Management Team

I planned a hectic trip to Ireland with my husband and stay here our first night. We were tired from a flight into Dublin (with a connection!) and then driving all the way to Galway. We were happy to find parking in a lot behind the hotel. Checking in was easy and fast.
Upon entering the room, we were very happy to see a clean and beautiful room. The bed was so comfortable our 30 min napped turned into 2 hours. The bathroom was also clean. Breakfast was delicious. Our stay came with a hotel breakfast along with a buffet.
All in all, an excellent stay. I wish we could have stayed here longer.
