“Perfect B&B”
Reviewed 17 October 2013

I was in Galway recently just for one night. I shared a twin room with my sister (one double bed and one single bed) and my sister-in-law had a single room. Very nice rooms, good size, very clean. Comfortable beds with sheets and blankets, had a great nights sleep, area was quite also so no disturbances. Bathroom ensuite in our room was fabulous, very large, very clean, had a wonderful shower! Breakfast was excellent, as good as I have in any hotel. Nice, quite, safe location only minutes walk to the main shopping street. Good location for Salthill also. Landlady was so nice, welcoming, funny and interested in us. Helped us with our bags and allowed me use her mobile phone to call my sister when I had arrived as I had no phone with me, very accommodating. If I am ever going back to Galway this is were I will be staying! Highly recommended.

We stayed at the Griffin Lodge for three nights at the end of August while doing a whirlwind tour of Europe. We had an upstairs room with en suite bath. Our room was clean and the location itself was perfect. It is a short walk from town for shopping, dining, etc. While the Griffin Lodge is great, the Hostess Ann is what made our stay outstanding. She is warm and friendly and completely goes out of her way to make your stay perfect. From cooking/serving breakfast to helping book activities and recommending restaurants....she is Super Woman. Thank you Ann and I can't wait to come back!

well myself and my father went to Galway for the weekend of the June Bank holiday (expected) crazy prices to be honest having checked out some of the more local hotels (which i found to be over-expensive) and didnt include breakfast until a google search recommended the Griffin Lodge after 2-3 phonecalls to Ann for directions once established the particular green we had to cross it was 5-6mins walk to the start of quay street (ideal!!!) as we were staying as part of a stag we still wanted somewhere were you get a good nights sleep and great breakfast here is the place indeed. for the accomodation was clean, quiet, well presented with WIFI and we were put in a room on upper floors bit small but grand, the breakfast was the buisness to be honest, full irish delicious, and we were given our own 2 keys due to us attending a stag that we may not be returning at same time. no problems at all with this service and would gladly recommend this B&B to anyone at all, to Ann i hope you had a busy time after we left and which led up to the Galway races - thank you for your hospitality and even the price per night on a bank holiday is well below what i would pay! best wishes and will definitely return!

We recently returned from a 2 week trip to Ireland which included a stay for 1 night in Galway. We arrived late in the day and we were greeted by Ann who was warm and friendly in addition to being quite funny! She became a fast friend and was very interested in learning about our travels and gave us some invaluable advice on a side trip to Connemara the next day and the best pubs and restaurants in Galway. The rooms were small but comfortable and clean. The breakfast was delicious. We were pleased that we had a chance to meet Marie and had a lovely conversation about our travels and her trip to Boston/ Waltham. We felt like we had known them for years. The location is about a 10 minute walk to the restaurants and pubs on a quiet side street. You will not be disappointed with this bed and breakfast.

Clean, quiet and great rooms. Stayed in the attic rooms. Great en suite. Breakfast was absolutely wonderfully cooked - there was too much food!

Only drawback is that it's a little hard to find but it's only a 15 walk from centre.

Anne is polite, funny, great hostess. She's fabulous and wonderful for a chat!

We stayed for 4 nights and were very comfortable. Griffin Lodge is just a few minutes walk from the bottom of Quay Street, but across the bridge and away from the noise of high summer nightlife. Ann is friendly and unassuming and offered us helpful advice on how to get everywhere we wanted to go. The rooms were small but clean and comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. Excellent coffee too.

Had trouble finding a place but came across Griffin Lodge - great location - walking distance to CBD and restaurant area. Rooms were clean but quite small and difficult to find power point available for charging electrical items. Breakfast was great and very well catered for.
