I stayed in this hotel late last year and it was great! We had a room facing the back, away from traffic noise (very little either way) The room is basic but its perfect - clean & spacious!
The staff are fantastic - I cannot rate them enough!!
We had our evening meal at the hotel and it was gorgeous and great value!!
The location is perfect, just off Eyre Square!
I will definitely be returning to this hotel on my next trip to Galway!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor!

This hotel is very close to Galway city centre with very enjoyable shops restaurants and bars. The room was very spacious and comfortable with tea and coffee and toiletries. The breakfast was excellent with a very wide selection of food to suit all tastes. There is also free parking, will stay there again, thank you

I stayed here for one night for a business trip to Galway. The location is very good, just off Eyre Square and the staff are very friendly. The room needed a little updating but was clean, the bathroom was more modern and very clean. The TV was flatscreen but kept losing service and the pillows were lumpy and hard. However, the bar and restaurant are very nice, I had dinner and and breakfast and both were really good. I would recommend this hotel for a short stay.

the Western Hotel was a good place for us to stay our one night in Galway; the room was comfortable, the parking was free and the location was great. There was some weird minor stuff that could be easily fixed, though - the wifi network was some bizarre name that didn't make it seem like it was actually the hotel's, for one, and the (very dated) TV had a remote that, bizarrely, had a bunch of buttons that didn't do what they said they'd do. Like, the channel button turned the thing on, and the mute button turned it off, with the power button not doing anything. Really weird. They could definitely update this place with minimal work, I think. There was also a large room off the hallway near our room that absolutely reeked of cigarettes when we walked past; thankfully this wasn't noticeable from our room.

Coming from America-nothing is ever free. We got to the hotel early and the room wasn't ready. The gal at the front desk said they had a cancelation to one of the apts and we could get a free upgrade and stay there instead but it was across the street and will have to walk over to get breakfast. We accepted and it was one of the best decisions in Ireland we made. The apt gave us the freedom to make our own meals and do laundry! The hotel service is very friendly and location is very close to main bus terminal and to downtown. We didn't get to see the hotel rooms but our apt was clean and balcony with view was great.
