Absolutely fantastic experience staying with Marie and Michael at Abbeylee. We arrived quite late, but were shown to our rooms immediately by Marie. The accommodations are pristine, comfortable, and with a great shower/bathroom. We stayed in the Lily room which had a single bed in addition to a double. Comfy beds, too! Fantastic breakfast with many tasty homemade options (we opted for the full Irish, delicious) and great coffee. Our hosts were two of the most gracious, wonderful people we met the entire duration of our trip.
If you're looking to stay in Galway proper, know that Abbeylee is a bit away from the bustling downtown so walking home from the bars might not be the best option. But, if you like a bit quieter venue or just want a less touristy area, this is excellent. You can walk to the more touristy section of Galway or get a cab there easily. It's a short walk down to the lower Salthill area and the promenade on the bay. Lovely area to meander.
The service and hospitality we received from Marie and Mike was unmatched, not only as we traveled Ireland and England for a couple of weeks, but beyond any other B&B or hotel we have EVER visited.More
