Took my mum to the west for her birthday last weekend and booked AshGrove House upon a recommendation. Everything about the spot lived up to what I had been told! A warm welcome was received at the front door and our twin room was perfect for the two of us, clean, comfortable and complete with tea/coffee making facilities, much appreciated after our days in the city! Each morning we looked forward to our breakfast which never disappointed! I'd go back tomorrow for the pancakes! Between the short stroll to the city centre, the value and overall comfort of AshGrove House I will definitely be returning and passing on my recommendations.

Quiet area, just a short walk from the center of Galway. We had a spacious room with very comfortable beds. The breakfast was fresh and good and the staff were so nice and helpful. What more could you wish?

Not a patch on other B & B's we stayed in whilst touring Ireland. We found both facilities and hospitality sadly lacking here. The owners weren’t around the day we arrived and the Asian lady running the place appeared to have little knowledge of the area when we asked about local restaurants. She only seemed interested in taking our orders for breakfast the next morning. Sadly we had booked for two nights, but when the owners were on site the following day they never introduced themselves or engaged in conversation apart from when paying the bill. Our room (21-right by the front door) was cramped and noisy with an “en suite” too small to turn around in –we literally had to back out of the room! Parking only sufficient for 3 cars so we had to use the pay and display. So many other lovely places to stay overlooking the bay –wish we’d not booked in advance!

All of us here at Ashgrove House are very upset to see this review ,which thankfully is totally unrepresentative of the experience that the vast majority of our guests have. This is borne out by the fact that it is the very first one star review we have received in 60 reviews of our property over a 6 year period The real problem we believe with this lady for giving us this hurtful and very unfair review, she wanted to break her 2 night booking which she booked via booking.com and has a 48hr cancellation policy . When we declined to offer her a refund this clearly triggered even more negativity and annoyance. For this lady to be so unfair to Lyintie our staff member that has worked with us for more than 11years ,and knows the local services and facilities more than the locals themselves .We are sorry this person didn't enjoy her stay but are delighted that she is the exception to the normal type of guest we are happy to welcome and look after at Ashgrove House.

Ideal for anyone visiting the hospital as it located across the road in a quiet cul-de-sac. Immaculately clean throughout.
Owner Angela is friendly & helpful without being intrusive.
Great choice of breakfast.
Comfortable beds, (Angela made my bed which I didn't expect but very much appreciated). Had a lovely peaceful night's sleep.
Bathroom was a little compact but it wasn't a problem for me.
At time of booking I didn't realise there was a choice of breakfast, I would have loved to have sampled the pancakes & salmon & eggs but the fry was tasty and very filling.

Room Tip: I stayed in a room beside the front door, it was great, I did not hear any guests coming or going
