“Top Notch - Wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 January 2014

Stayed two nights this past October with my two daughters in one of the most beautiful room in the house. Everything about the house is great. The house is less than a block from the coast. There is a wide promenade walkway all along the water from Salthill to Galway, it's about a 40 minute walk. Mary drew us a map of how to get around and where to eat. Tom helped me with my rental car - the car was a manual and could not figure out how to put it in reverse. Thank you Tom!!! Breakfast was amazing. Mary's breakfasts are fantastic. Already planning another trip back to Ireland and will be staying at Marless House. A truly wonderful place to stay at.

We based ourselves for three nights very close to Galway at the Marless House B&B. It is only several hundred yards from Galway Bay and the promenade. Owners Mary and Tom Geraghty are the perfect hosts; it is like staying with your favorite relatives. Her care, attention to detail and good humor is contagious. She is an encyclopedia of information and her help with our various day trips was invaluable. Both rooms we had in the house were quiet and immaculately clean; bathrooms modern, well-appointed and spotless. Their Irish breakfast was amazing, served in a lovely breakfast room. It’s a stone’s throw from the bay, but about a 10-minute drive from downtown Galway (which we happily explored one night). The B&B is actually in the seaport town named Salthill and the actual village, which we did not take advantage of, is about 5 minutes down the promenade. There was too much to do in and around Galway: Aran Islands, Connemara Drive, Galway City itself and Marless House B&B was the perfect respite for these weary travelers.

If you find driving in Ireland a challenge, as I do, This B&B deserves an A. Marless House is right off the promenade in Salthill, less than a hundred yards from the 401 bus stop. This made getting into Galway hassle-free (just 10 minutes and 1.85 euro) The innkeeper is knowledgeable with good recommendations for Galway. Very restful accommodations, excellent breakfast, at a good price.

Mary is the perfect hostess and made us feel right at home in her beautiful B&B located a short walk to Galway Bay. Our room was very comfortable and breakfast was excellent with many choices. We enjoyed chatting with Mary and her husband about their family and the 30 plus years of operating this wonderful inn.

Mary, please don't throw our your husband's collection of trophies. :-)

Thanks so much for a really nice stay,

Al and Marge

This was our last stay in a B&B on this trip. And as good as all the others were you can always find things you like about each one. The accommodations were quite pleasant and we loved the electric blankets, maybe not needed in season but good for a November stay. There were places to eat within walking distance and did I mention Salthill. One of the few breakfasts that I didn't eat the traditional Irish breakfast. I had french toast which was good and a nice change. They offered a very nice breakfast selection. Not that it was a problem but they only accept cash so just make sure to consider this when staying here. I would stay here again and have no problem recommending staying here to any of my friends. Thanks for the nice stay.

Mary made us very welcome. Her local knowledge, patience and helpful maps were priceless. Keeps a friendly house. Guests interacted and exchanged tales. We walked into Galway. Had meals just off the esplanade. Would highly recommend.

Room Tip: Book early.
