Description: Mc Donagh's have been tantalising the taste buds of both Visitor and Local for four generations. The Family knowledge of Fish and dedication to their customers has earned them the reputation of being one of Ireland's best Seafood's Houses. Mc Donagh's is divided into two sections: In the Seafood Restaurant you will find a great variety of fish dishes on our menu. From native Clarenbridge Oysters, Salmon, Crab, Scallops,Prawns, Hake, Lemon Sole, Plaice, Haddock, Wild Mussels and Ray. Smoked Salmon from Connemara and whatever else the Fisherman can get his hands on. A new addition to our menu is Irish Rib Eye Steak from Mc Geough's Butchers Oughterard Co. Galway. In our Fish & Chips Bar the fish is cooked to order, and you are guaranteed the freshest of Chips, as our potatoes are peeled and cut on the premises. Our Fish & Chips can be eaten on the premises or taken away, we also have outside seating during the summer months.

Fish was great, fastest for cod chips, friendly service, good price, lots of tables, just go. Other fish takes 5-10 minutes longer, chips not greasy, coleslaw is a miss.

Myself my partner had been to by family that McDonaghs was not to be miss and they where right, when we arrived we seen it was very busy so where unsure on weather to stay as we had our one year old son with us. When seeing that the line was moving very fast we decided to stay. My partner had fish and chips and I had chicken and chips. We where served very quickly and the fish was the nicest that we had in a long time!! I would tell anyone who was coming to Galway to eat here. We will be back again soon!!

Our group of six universally declared the lunch at McDonagh's to be one of the highlights of our visit to Galway, not to mention the best traditional fish and chips we have had. My favorite part of the chippery was the a la carte nature allowing adventurous patrons to eat any variety of fried fish.

Of the five different types of fried fish our group had (cod, hake, ray, mackerel, and salmon) we were astounded at the quality of the fish and the uniqueness of the chippery. The chips were, of course, fluffy and delicious.

The only word of caution would be not to overindulge if you have a sensitive stomach. The quantity of fried food you could have at very reasonable prices may cause your arteries to slowly clog (while your mouth years for more!)

Race week is a big family tradition in our home what better after a trip to the races then mcdonagh's.

Always busy but staff work quickly to get people served as quick as possible.
