“Great Family Hotel”
Reviewed 24 August 2012

We are just home from a 3 night stay in this hotel. Our family room was large with 2 double beds and a balcony. The room was very clean. We dined in Tribes Restaurant as part of our package, then in the Hotel Bar on the other 2 evenings because we were so impressed by the bar food. Having read the other reviews we knew it was a little out of Galway, near an Industrial Estate, but this to us proved very handy having Dunnes Stores just across the way! Also it was very handy to get to from Northern Ireland, as it is just off the M6. As we had a car Galway and Salthill were not far away at all. The staff were very helpful and friendly. One of the receptionists even went to the bother of getting plasters for us out of her own hand bag. The pool was a good size and there were plenty of noodles, floats and balls for the children to play with. A jacuzzi would be nice, but we did know there wasn't one when we booked! The gym is small but at least there is one! We had requested a quiet room, and were not disturbed by any noise. On arrival our room wasn't ready but we were compensated with free tea, latte and drinks for the children. We have stayed at other hotels where if the room isn't ready we just had to sit and wait!! We had a wonderful time and hope it won't be too long until we are back again. Put it like this, the children wanted to know could we not live there!!!! Thanks to all the staff we had a really great, relaxing family few days away!

I have stayed here before on business it has always been very good. The Guiness is always tasty as it should be!! The only small downside is it isnt in galway city itself so youd need to a taxi into town..

Stayed here for one night - nice modern hotel with great facilities. Not located in city centre but didn't take too long to drive into the city. Our room was facing the busy road but didn't have any noise issues. Would have been great to have had more time to make use of the pool. We ate in the bar/lounge area as we couldn't getting a booking for dinner in the restaurant till later that evening - while the food was fine the service by the staff wasn't that great. Had fantastic service at the front desk though - on checking in and assisting with questions we had.

As some others have said the hotel wasn't the easiest to find, even with GPS. The GPS put us across the street and down about a half block, If you find yourself in the parking lot with KFC, drive to the middle and do a 360 spin and you will see it. We stayed Thurs-Sun a group of 8. We had 3 rooms, all rooms were very clean and the beds were the best, very comfortable and hard to leave in the morning. Bathrooms are well appointed, the nicest of our entire trip.
We ate in the restaurant the first night the food was good but they were out of a few things. This is something I hate to say but our service was slow, really slow, 2 hours and 15 min slow. I hate to say it because all of the restaurant staff are working very hard they are not slacking off, I do however think they are understaffed. We ate breakfast every day and it was good with plenty of choices. This is where you see the same servers you saw at 10:30 the previous night. The bar/pub downstairs was excellent I can't say enough about the employees here, they are so friendly and helpful with their suggestions. Ian came around the bar and sat with my husband's ipad for about 10 min. to show him the things we were talking about on a map. That is excellent customer service! You can also eat here, no comment since we didn't but it looked good. Check in/out- in was fast, friendly and easy, out on Sunday, again I will note my impression of understaffed, only one person at the desk, me 3rd in line, 10 minutes and when I got to the desk she was on the phone making a hotel reservation. With one person on the desk during busy Sunday morning check out, someone else should be answering the phone. Once it was my turn, again fast, friendly and easy.
We were going to have some laundry done but the prices were outrageous. We took it to a cleaners in Galway when we were there and had a huge bag done for 14 euro, 2 pair of boxers and 2 pair of socks would have been more at the hotel, no not kidding.
The hotel was an easy drive into Galway city 10 min. If you plan on spending all of your time in the city you should in the city, the traffic gets a bit congested. Our plans had us going to other places and the city one day, so it was the perfect fit for us and I would happily return.

It was a very nice clean hotel. Great Nights Sleep.

We ate before we left and the food was amazing.

Staff were kind and helpful.

Would recommend to anyone.

Stayed here with my mum and 2 children from the 13th-16th August. Room was excellent and really spacious. It was spotless and well cleaned while we were there. floor to ceiling windows with a hugh balcony. It was a bit noisy though as it is right on a dual carraigeway. Food was excellent and breakfast was plentiful with a great selection. I didn't like the pool it was far too small only about 2 lanes in width, so really cramped during busy times. The bar staff were really friendly as were Dale And Conor in the restaurant but found the younger girls were a bit hassled when asked to do anything for you. I felt they were lacking some customer service skills. We stayed 3 night with one evening meal and at 390 for all four of us I though it was quiet reasonable for Galway even if it is a little bit outside of town.

Room Tip: When booking ask for a room thats not on the side of the dual carraigeway.

This is a clean modern hotel, with relatively friendly staff. A bit out of town, right at the end of the motorway. It is ideal for business users or couples. It is not however, a family friendly hotel. Families - Choose somewhere a but more central and somewhere that has better facilities for entertaining kids in the bar reception area.
