“perfect night away”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2014

Really enjoyed our night here. We booked a one night package with breakfast and evening meal and it was great value. Check in and out were very efficient and all the staff we encounterered were very nice and helpful. I loved our room, it was big and spacious with 2 whole walls of windows which I really liked. The meal in the resturant was delicious and we had a few drinks in the bar after too. I dont have a bad word to say about this hotel and will definetly return in the future.

Room Tip: We had an end of corridor room which was very large with huge windows, loved it.

not great location - too far from town. breakfast ok- awful coffee. people were very nice though and for the most part, service was good! prob not stay again unless the rates are really cheap. Galway was nice though - we were there for st paddys day. great time in the city.

nice hotel first impression. fast and efficient check-in. pleasant and cheerful receptionists.disappointed with our room. interconnecting door. had dinner booked for earliest booking available. was expecting a better menu choice for a hotel in galway. had a lovely meal but it could have been got anywhere.. there was no need to book as it wasn t busy and we got double billed for our drinks but we are getting refunded. thank you. on checkout it was a bit less efficient. there was a lady at reception with an issue but the receptionist wasn t a bit helpful to her and when the lady returned to explain something to her the receptionist couldn t wait to get rid of her. we wont be returning to the Clayton but if we were it would be for the great breakfast.thank you.

i always stay in this hotel when visiting galway. I choose this hotel for many reasons. It is spacious, modern, comfortable, well kept and is reasonably priced. It is also conveniently located across Dunnes Stores in BallyBrit which i find extremely handy. The rooms are beautiful. I love the bar in this hotel, it is well layed out and has an excellent bar menu. All staff in the hotel are efficient and friendly. The restaurant is amazing and the breakfast has great choice. I first stayed in this hotel in 2009 and have returned on many occasions since.

We stayed here for 2 nights over St Patricks Day. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the bar was good with live music. The (free) breakfast was OK, service was lacking, but that's common in buffet style. The rooms were a good size. Only downside is the hotel is a €13 cab ride into town (each way). It would be great if the hotel had a shuttle van.

First off, staff is very friendly, nothing personal there. Free Wifi and parking, also nice. The bad? Walls razor thin : I could hear someone opening up a pill bottle the first night, no joke. The hotel is in desperate need of renovation, outdated and maintenance is needed. We had to call the front desk because of no hot water one morning, no joke. Toilet frequently clogged and no hotel welcome guide which isn't a big deal but just odd. For the price, you can do better and closer to town.

Clayton-GM, Manager at Clayton Hotel Galway, responded to this review, 20 March 2014
Dear playbaltimore,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your recent stay in the Clayton Hotel. I am sorry that your time with us wasn't as enjoyable as you expected.
We did indeed have some issues with supplying hot water for a limited time yesterday morning and this was caused by the failure of a circulatory pump. This wasn't foreseen and we did replace the pump as quickly as possible. I realise that the least any guest rightly expects is hot water and I am genuinely sorry it inconvenienced you but it was an isolated incident out of our control. I feel it is rather unfair to brand the hotel desperately in need of renovation and outdated on the back of this.
I wasn't aware there was any issues with toilets or with noises from adjoining rooms either, these aren't issues that come up often but I'll take your remarks on board and with the rest of the team in the hotel work harder to ensure we deliver the experience our guests deserve.

Best regards

We stayed two nights as part of an Ireland package. We found the hotel to be nice the bar was average and the breakfast provided a nice spread. The hotel is a little out of town, but it was not a problem. Right across the street is the bus station and it is 1.90 into town. Overall a good stay.
