A drive around the Ring of Kerry is a must. Every where you stop there are wonderful photo opportunities. The area around the Skelligs is a beautiful area. We enjoyed watching the sheep crossing the roads along the way and stopping for lunch in the villages along the drive. Everything along the Ring is just at a slower pace so don't try to rush....just enjoy. Taking the drive on a rainy day will be a real disappointment. Make sure it is a sunny and bright day.

This is one of my favorites of all it was the last place in Ireland to get power early 60, to get to this Valley you must drive through the Gap of Dunloe it is a narrow road all the way there is a lake and some river views if you are into photos you will get lost in there and not want to be found.

We did the ring in the off season (March). Perfect time- no tour buses or traffic. Must see.

This scenery is some of the most beautiful on Earth. There are several places along the way to stop and really let it sink in. We actually did the ring in one day. Most recommend spending several days on it, and if you want to do some hiking, biking, or horseback riding, then you should. However, if all you are doing is driving, we feel that one day is sufficient. There are several farms, cliffs, and valleys along the way. My one word of caution is if you have a passenger who gets car-sick easily, this is not the trip for him or her. The roads are often poorly filled, bumpy, and even winding. At times, you will have to "give way" on the one-way bridge. For safety reasons, they recommend traveling counter-clockwise. We had a late flight that night, so getting out in the late morning worked perfectly for us!

We spent two nights in a Farmhouse on the Dingle Peninsula so that we could enjoy the Kerry area and were not disappointed. Starting the Ring counterclockwise as suggested is a good idea as there are parts of the road that are narrow and curvy and buses and trucks have to be watched out for. The villages were interesting and the countryside beautiful. We had very thick fog and wet gentle rain on the southwest which I am told is normal. It reminded me of the California coast when it is fogged in but the farms were different. It was still worth the drive. The Killdare National Park was great and it had cleared when we reached it. The grounds and house of the Muscross House were beautiful and a needed rest to get out from driving and walk around to enjoy. Pleased we spent the extra night as you could take the drive at your own pace and stop when you want. Loads of lakes to see besides the coast and mountains and plenty of hiking trails if you want them.
