The Lake Hotel Killarney is situated on a spectacular site with the majority of rooms enjoying unrivaled views of the lake. From the welcoming reception to the spacious well equipped room and excellent facilities, my stay in the Lake was a memorable experience. Their website gives a true flavour of the experience on offer. The justified pride of place is a badge of honour from the owner manager through all the staff. The numerous cozy reception rooms tempt you to relax while continuing to enjoy the wonderful views and browze the extensive history of this fine establishment on display on the walls and coffee tables. I enjoyed a stroll around the grounds and onsite castle and will return again and again.

I booked the Master Roman Theme room for Valentines weekend. When we arrived after a long drive from Dublin we were greeted by a very warm and friendly dark haired girl on reception, who assured us our room was lovely, and let us know about the facilities and where everything was. When we got to our room we were amazed, this particular room is very well done, with Roman style columns, statues and curtains etc. It also has a huge bed on a raised platform, and a lovely big step up jacuzzi, which was properly big, not like some of the jacuzzis fitted to some hotel rooms, which are only slightly bigger than a bath! The bathroom was well appointed, and spotless too. It featured a huge shower which doubled as a sauna, and also had a radio in it! The staff were very friendly and helpful, room service was good too. On Valentines day itself we were blessed by the good weather, blue skies and sunny too, which enabled us to enjoy what is probably this hotels major selling point, the beautiful lake and grounds it is situated next to. It really is gorgeous, and nice and romantic just taking a stroll along the lake. Killarney itself is only a €8 taxi trip away, with plenty of pubs and a few clubs in it too. Overall i would recommend this hotel to all couples, and whilst i know not all the rooms are as nice as the Master Roman Theme room, the lake setting and the excellent staff would make for an enjoyable stay.

This is our third time visiting the Lake Hotel in Killarney and it keeps getting better, staff are wonderful - we requested our favourite room number and it was no problem to allocate it for us, they booked us dinner on the first night too.

The lake is the number one selling point of the hotel closely followed by the quality of the rooms, we've only ever stayed in the four poster deluxe rooms with jacuzzi bath and a great view so can only tell you about them but they're well worth the money.

The outdoor jacuzzi overlooking the lake is amazing and you could just stay in there until you shrivel up!!

Overall fabulous place.....about a twenty five minute walk into the town but taxis aren't expensive if you don't fancy walking!

I recently stayed here as a gift to my partner for his birthday and had stayed here a year ago - so partially knew that this was going to be a fantastic stay.

Upon arrival, the lady at reception (sorry i never noted her name) was friendly, informative and ensured that we were looked after straight away. The room was clean, comfortable and hosted spectalcular views of the lake and 12th century church. Dinner was an experience in itself. The food was amazing and the restaurant manager (Emmanuel) even remembered us from last years visit - ensuring us that we were looked after at all times.

I, personally look for a hotel that does not have screaming children running around and that tend not to focus on booking wedding parties that would sometimes keep the other guests awake until all hours and found that this hotel very much catered to all our needs to ensure that a relaxing, enjoyable stay was had.

Internet available in library and located just 5 minutes drive from Killarney town (excluding pothole diversion!)

I very much look forward to returning later this year and have strongly recommended this hotel to family and friends.

We stayed for 3 nights and found the hotel even better than when we were there in 15 years ago. We had a deluxe lake view room with a balcony overlooking the lake. The view from the dining room is also over the lake with swans and at breakfast a red deer came out of the mist - magical! You can walk or take a pony trap to Muckross House, an old manor house with a small cafeteria where they serve desserts that you feel you should photograph rather than eat! The hotel bar is a very inviting place and one night they had musicians play traditional Irish music in the drawing room. There is a nice spa with massage and hot tub. A perfect place if you want to relax and soak in the beautiful surroundings.

If you're willing to afford it, this is an absolutely fantastic hotel, and one I can't wait to get back to.

Stayed for 3 nights in a master deluxe room (with jacuzzi in room and lake views). Had planned 2 nights at 200e per night, but was offered 100e for the final night and took advantage of the offer. I wouldn't suggest the woodland view rooms to anyone, as although they may be perfectly nice, you can only be missing out without the lake views.

Despite having read the fantastic reviews on tripadvisor I was a little worried about the decor. It looked terrible to me in the photos - I like very modern rooms (ie no flowery wallpaper/carpet). However, the reviews were so good, I took the chance. Was not disappointed - the photos (especially on the actual hotel website) simply do not do justice to the rooms. The room was incredibly spacious, with a beautifully placed hottub in the main bedroom and a balcony to admire the INCREDIBLE views. I can't even begin to imagine how big the suites must be. We were on the 4th floor.

I had seen other users' photos of deer - thought this might be a rare occurence, but sure enough saw them constantly during our stay. We were somehow blessed with nice weather but this would be a fantastic place to enjoy in torrential rain also.

The breakfast lounge/restaurant is a fantastic setting to enjoy your meals. Unfortunately the manager was incredibly rude on one evening but did apologise and give free drinks after complaining - I certainly wouldn't let this put me off the hotel. (and I'd generally never set foot in a restaurant again after a bad experience).

As for location, it is superb, just outside Killarney town, a short taxi ride away or what I would guess to be a 20minute walk.

Seemed quiet when we were there but nonetheless didn't hear a single noise from outside the room/corridors. (bar the stag)

Overall I can't recommend this hotel highly enough based on quality of room, views and romantic setting. Might not be the best value, but that's probably not what you're looking for at the Lake Hotel. If you want a romantic setting, relaxed surroundings, spacious, well decorated room with superb views - book it.

Just returned from a 2 night stay at this hotel with my husband and young child. This hotel is beautiful and the views were spectacular from our room.We stayed in a deluxe room which was very spacious and boasted a jacuzzi bath and separate shower in the bathroom. The receptionist was very friendly on arrival and check in was swift. Our only gripe with this hotel was the bar menu,it was very limited and only served afternoon tea before 6:30 p.m.We arrived to the hotel at 4p.m and after a long drive we just wanted to relax and have some bar food but as the menu was so limited we ended up having to drive into town in the pouring rain for something to eat and with a toddler in hand this was not ideal.Overall, the hotel is beautiful and i would recommend this hotel to couples who are looking for a romantic getaway, not for families.
