My wife and I just concluded spending 2 nights in lovely Killarney at the Arbutus Hotel, located in the city centre. Killarney has a great selection of hotels but stay in the city to appreciate the charm of the city and to experience the many lovely pubs and those that have live Irish music nightly. It really is a fine evening strolling city with many stores open late.
The Hotel itself is a grand dame, beautifully decorated and maintained. The hilite is the staff, from the check in lady, Bre to Betty the main server of breakfast. When meeting Betty you need to ask 2 questions - how long has she worked at the Arbutus and where was she born. Just a wonderful charming person and the person you want to meet first thing in the morning. The breakfast itself is a 10 from the fruit to the eggs a standout.

Room Tip: you may want to be away from the street

Four of us stayed three nights at the Arbutus Hotel in Killarney on our week-long tour of Ireland and found it to be a gracious and welcoming hotel. All the staff were friendly and welcoming, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the food service was great! The hotel's location is perfect. No mystery why the Arbutus Hotel is one of Ireland's favorite places to stay!

The Arbutus is in a great location in Killarney. My wife and I had no problems finding the hotel and had no problems parking right behind the hotel. Our room on the first night was large, however, it faced the street and thus there was quite a bit of noise. We asked for a different room for our second night and the staff was able to move us to a different room that was much quieter. The hotel offers a laundry service and allows you to fill as much as you want into a bag for a flat rate.

The breakfast at the Arbutus was alright.

We had a very pleasant stay in Killarney, Ireland at the Arbutus Hotel. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We had good breakfasts and very good service in the hotel dining room. A waitress, whose name was Betty, was very helpful and very friendly. If ever we are in Killarney again we will definitely stay there again.

We stumbled upon the Arbutus Hotel while stopping in Killarney en route to Dingle and liked it so much that we chose to stay two nights instead of one. The proprietors make a point to make their guests feel like they are at home. We had tea in the lovely front room which is filled with beautiful antiques, as is the rest of the hotel. They also booked a Ring of Kerry tour, recommended a wonderful restaurant and gave us directions out of town when we left. The rooms are nice, not luxurious, but certainly adequate. Beds are pretty firm which suited me fine but my daughter wasn't a fan. We were offered a large room at the front of the hotel overlooking the main street but opted for a room in the back after learning our lesson about rooms overlooking main drags of pub filled towns! The room was quiet, for the most part, but tour buses line up in the back street early in the morning which can cause some commotion. Certainly not the hotel's fault as Killarney is a tourist town first and foremost. Breakfast was included and was excellent with a great selection of pastries and fresh fruit along with traditional Irish breakfast fare. The cook has been there for years and is very engaging and interested in pleasing her patrons. Very charming. I'd certainly recommend this hotel/B&B to anyone passing through Killarney.

Room Tip: Choose a back room if you are an early riser, a front room if you're a night owl.

The minute we walked in we were greeted very pleasantly. We felt immediately in a wonderful place. The city of Killarney is fantastic. You feel like leaving back in age. A beautiful fire place in the lobby where you can enjoy an after dinner in an atmosphere that only this hotel/city can give you. Clean rooms, quiet, comfortable. A fantastic experience and the personnel is fantastic at breakfast and at the front desk as well. Great breakfast by the way. There is a pub attached, avoid it, they are not exactly friendly.

We stayed for 2 nights & felt the Arbutus Hotel was ideally suited to its location.
Highly traditional & a little old fashioned, its right in the heart of Killarneys shops, restaurants & bars.
Our rooms were very comfortable & had some exceptionally grand antique styled furniture. We would have all slept well had it not been for the terrible noise at the back of the hotel where the car park is, with pubs cleaning up & staff finishing work with no regard for anyone else.
The hotel staff were very professional & obviously take real pride in going out of their way to ensure that guests enjoy their stay. What really impressed us is that once we had checked in the Receptionist called us in our room to check we were happy with our room & to offer complimentary tea - outstanding & this normally only happens in very expensive, top end hotels.....thoroughly impressed all of us.
Overall it suited us very well & we felt quite at home at this very homely hotel.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the front so as to avoid the noise when pubs are cleaning up, finishing up very lat...
