“A Real Irish Gem! Loved it!”
Reviewed 20 June 2014

The grounds and house are beautiful and the setting is right out of a fairy tale. The B & B is in the Killarney National Park. We chose this location as a quiet getaway. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by Bridgette, who was pleasant and very helpful. We sat down for tea, Bridgette shared her thoughts of activities we should explore in the area. We took her advice and visited Muckross House and the Traditional Farms including a Jaunting car ride. We also drove out the Dingle Peninsula and enjoyed dinner at John Benny’s pub, also recommended by Bridgette.

Mary and John were wonderful hosts and the breakfast was very tasty and plentiful. We even celebrated my father’s birthday at breakfast with a birthday cupcake.

I highly recommend the Friars Glenn for everyone visiting Killarney, Ireland.

We hope to return to Friars Glenn in the future!

Our 2 night stay last week at Friars Glen was excellent in every way. Mary, the owner, and Briget, her assistant, could not have been more professional or supportive. Upon arrival, both oriented us to the Killarney area and assisted us in making reservations for activities. The grounds are lovely, and the home itself beautiful and spotless. Breakfasts were amazing - especially the banana fritters! The home is situated very near Killarney National Park, and all that the Park has to offer. The drive into town takes minutes. Of the several B & B's we stayed at during our 2 week trip to Ireland, Friars Glen was our favorite. I would not hesitate to recommend Killarney as a destination, or Friars Glen as a base while there!

From the warm way we were greeted upon arrival to the sincere wishes for good travels when we left, our stay at Friar's Glen was marked by truly genuine hospitality. We were served tea and cake on the lovely patio after we checked in, which was especially relaxing after a long day of driving. Both our rooms (two couples traveling together) were pleasant and comfortable, and the bathroom absolutely sparkled. Breakfast in the sunny dining area was everything that we had come to expect in an Irish breakfast and more. Delicious! Mary, our hostess, was so welcoming, full of information, genuine and fun! Friar's Glen is a charming place made even more special by Mary's hospitality.

Room Tip: One room was on the first floor and one on the second. Both were quiet and comfortable.

Our family of 5 spent 3 nights at Friars Glen. From the moment of arrival we felt welcomed. The facility was immaculate and very comfortable. We were all impressed with the many little touches that added a touch of class to the experience . Brigid and Mary were so nice and accommodating, the breakfasts were incredibly yummy. Brigid was a hoot, not only did she keep us entertained but she was the absolute best guide we could have hoped for. Each morning she helped to guide us based on weather and the interests of our family. She steered us in the right direction each and every time! If we had to plan our our trip again we would have spent more time at Friars Glen. You will not be disappointed with a stay there.

My mother and I just left Friar's Glen after a 3 night stay. We were greeted by Mary, who made us feel very welcome. Our room was spacious and clean with views to the back garden where we got a peek of a family of deer a few times. For us, this location was perfect because being a few minutes drive out of town, it was very quiet and relaxing. Brigit is fantastic and after finishing up our wonderful breakfast every morning, she would go over maps with us depending on what our plans were for the day. We took full advantage of the cozy sitting room at the end of our long days with a book in front of the fire. I also really enjoyed speaking to John about our love for plants. Overall, Friar's Glen is a great home base to take advantage of all the sights in the surrounding area. We will definitely come back and spend more time here!

Beautiful B&B located a short distance outside the city in the National Park. The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean, the grounds and surrounding county side are beautiful, and the food is excellent and cooked to order. We were greeted by Bridget who treated us like family and provided us with directions to all the attractions we wanted to visit; she also pointed out excellent restaurants in the area. Mary and John were friendly, accommodating, and genuinely cared about the quality of our stay. My wife and I particularly appreciated the sitting room with the nightly fire. Friars Glen is easily the best B&B we visited during our time in Ireland and we look forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the mountains, the view is breathtaking!

My friend and I stayed at Friar’s Glen for 3 nights the first week of June and we loved our stay at this beautiful property. Upon our arrival, John carried our heavy luggage up to our room. Mary served us tea and hot chocolate in the sitting room and gave us lots of information & maps to all the area attractions. We stayed in Room 10 which was very spacious for two people. The bathroom was also very roomy. Brigid greeted us each morning in the dining room and made sure we were well taken care of for breakfast, which was always very good. She was always there throughout the day to answer questions and provide us with any additional information we needed. You feel like you are away from it all, but yet it is just a short drive into town. We loved everything about this place. Brigid, Mary, and John make it extra special.
