“Wonderful Stay”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

I have been to Killarney many, many times over the years and often, when driving out the Muckross Road commented on how nice 'The Old Weir Lodge' looked. This year when planning a trip to Killarney we finally booked it and were not disappointed.

Located within walking distance to Killarney town centre and all it has to offer, The Old Weir Lodge is a home away from home. We had a family room - even though there was only two of us in the room. The room was big, bright and spotlessly clean. Only gripe was the bathroom was very small. Our room, 119 faced the road which meant we were able to hear traffic noise during the night - this isn't the hotel's fault and to be honest, living just off a main road myself I'm used to noise at night time so it doesn't bother me. The beds were extremely comfortable. The Resident's bar is very comfortable and I loved the Bricin lounge where guests can just sit and read and relax. Breakfast is plentiful and delicious with extremely attentive staff

Will definitely be back and huge thanks is due to the O' Dononghue family for their hospitality

Enjoyed 3 nights here which enabled us to do Ring of Kerry and the gap of Dunloe boat and jaunring car trip. Staff were all so helpful and breakfasts extensive and we'll presented. Great places to eat just up the road and into the main street. Would have enjoyed staying longer. Gave good advice on travel routes to drive to next stop so we did not miss key sights

Room Tip: Great base for local travel in the south west

My wife and I stayed at the Old Weir Lodge for three nights as part of a two week trip to Ireland in May of 2014. We found the front desk staff to be very friendly and helpful. The room was good sized by European standards and was clean and well maintained. We are in our early 50s and in average shape but had no problem walking into town in the evenings for dinner and pub life. It was a leisurly 10-15 minute depending where in town we were heading. Although the hotel is on a busy road, the windows were excellently sound proofed and there was no outside noise unless you had the windows opened. All in all it was a very good value and we would recommend it. The only small drawback is the lack of options for breakfast. Three days of the same menu was about our limit.

Old Weir Lodge was a great choice at a good value. Very close to town (easy walk). Check-in was easy. Room was quite large and comfortable. No US outlet, so need a converter. Breakfast was included and was excellent. Staff were very friendly and made you feel at home. We really enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Not sure. Double bed is really a double (and not 2 beds put together to make it a king, different th...

We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff was hands-down the friendliest we had anywhere in Ireland. They assisted us with finding a few venues and also scheduled a gap of Dunloe trip for us right there at the front desk. By the way, don't miss the carriage/boat ride through the gap - it was one of the highlights of our trip.

The breakfast was good, and the rooms were very nice. The lodge is decorated very classy and was spotlessly clean. The bed was big and comfy, and the bathroom large.

Oh, and the water pressure was heaven! Best shower I had in two weeks of traveling Ireland!

Beautiful hotel, lovely furnishings and super friendly staff in a very post card perfect part of Ireland. Loved it from the moment we walked in. Service great and rooms very spacious. Great value for the area, and certainly better than some 4 star hotels we have been too. Fully recommended and we would come back here again for sure!

The hotel is located only a few minutes walk from the city center in a quiet neighborhood area. It has only 30 well appointed en-suite rooms and beautiful gardens on all sides. Our room was modern, clean, spacious and had a great view over the front gardens. The rates are very reasonable and the included breakfast was ample. Instead of the standard buffet setting for eggs, bacon & sausage all cooked items are by order with the waitresses and service is quick. There is plenty of fresh bread, juice and cereal. The staff at reception couldn't have been more helpful. There is plenty of free parking inside the fence in front and at the rear of the building.
