“Raynes Park, London. Enjoyed our stay.”

We had a lovely time touring Kerry using Darby O'Gills as our base. The staff were very friendly and there was a nice atmosphere in the hotel. Would have liked to see more choice on the menu, but when dinner was served it was hot and wholesome. We were very pleased with
our room and the en-suite bathroom was spotless. I would say 'well done' for giving a good service at very competitive prices. A good three star hotel.

Stayed here recently with my two friends for three nights and could not be more disappointed and dissatisfied with the service, the food, the room (mold on walls, holes in the walls, a broken window, the list is endless), although we do thank the maintenance man who did come and fix it on our final night. We had a three course meal included in our package, we would have been more pleased with beans on toast. None of us got what we asked for, our little requests such as sauce on the side and side orders was far from the young waitress attentiveness and cold steaks with a freezing cold 'cooked' cherry tomato is far from 3* quality. A family sat in beside us during our main course and must have noticed us just literally playing with our food as they got up and left after they asked us how ours was, all we said was the truth which was clearly evident. The waitresses especially an elderly lady noticed this and just left us with our plates in front of us for 37 minutes, we waited and said nothing but they were well aware but we were just avoided like the plague. We noted this because we all do work in the hospitality industry and we would always follow up when a customer is not happy (a bit of Optimus wouldn't go astray). We were not even asked was everything alright with three plates of untouched food in front of us. It been our first night we didnt want to be the 'demanding and 'fussy' customers, even though we were far from it, so we just left and retired to our room. The breakfast was only average but our room was an absolute disgrace, we definitely got the worst room in the hotel, we saw many rooms when they were been cleaned as we passed them, they were far better than the fleapit we got. We did not bother bringing all this to the receptionists attention on our departure cause what satisfaction would we have got, they clearly knew we were not pleased as we not charged for the steak supplements, why bother, we were just too exhausted, we just wanted to get home fast and out of the place. We were down for a festival in Killorglin which we immensely enjoyed every bit of it and will definitely be back next year but not to here without doubt.
I'll leave this on a little note, A simple smile does not hurt or cost anything!

I stayed here for 3 nights recently (13th-16th Aug) with my partner and 11 year old daughter. I would have to say that I enjoyed my experience there very much. Rooms are a nice size and are clean and tidy. Telly is a bit dated and you only have a choice of 3 stations, but we were not spending much time in the room so this wasn't an issue. We got breakfast each morning. It was hot and very nice. A choice of hot food and cereals. Not the biggest choice I have ever seen, but far from the worst. We got dinner in the bar on 2 nights a nd have to say it was very nice. No complaints at all. Bar area was nice with live music each night. They also have 2 other sections to the bar area if you didnt want to listen to the music. One area has a fooze ball table, dart board and pool table. The beds in the room were nice and comfortable. Shower was good with plenty of power in the water. Floors are a bit creaky and as a result you can here people in the rooms beside you moving around. My one, and only complaint would be with regard to the springs on the door. This causes the door to slam quite hard which is very annoying when people are going into or leaving their rooms while you are trying to sleep. All in all, an enjoyable experience. This hotel is roughly 4kms from the town and will cost between 8 and 10 euro in a taxi.

Room Tip: Try and get a room at the back of the hotel, away from the entrance to the bar and away from the smo...

Just back from a five night stay in Darby o gills, with my husband and two children. Our room was very dated and very dusty. My children found two lighters and a cigar pack in the wardrobe. I checked under the beds and furniture for any other surprises and the dust was two inches thick. The beds are as dated as the furniture and extremely uncomfortable. The bathroom was not cleaned just barley looked at and extremely moldy. The toiletries was a bar of small soap. The staff do not speak to you and are not friendly at all, I tried to ask two different staff about local events are were not very helpful at all. There is no Wi Fi throughout it is only available in reception area and the bar. We had our evening meal there and the bars downstairs are lovely and the food was an excellent standard. At night time, the rooms were too warm the heating was on all the time in the hallways, I opened the window to find the noise of the boiler/fan outside was too loud. We honestly did not get one decent nights sleep. The staff smoked outside just under our room, the might as well been smoking in our room. When they have a function you cant get any parking at all and the music was too loud. The entertainment is two hours of music on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. The breakfast was really nice. I have stayed in loads of hotels before and I am not at all fussy but I could not get a nights sleep in the hotel, I left the hotel totally exhausted after our break. I absolutely loved Killarney its a great place to visit cannot wait to go back but would not be going back to Darby O Gills.

Room Tip: Maybe rooms at the front are better, maybe.
