“The Emerald Isle’s hidden gem”
Reviewed 23 August 2014

I was surprised to learn that the 180-room KTH ranked 24th of 39 Killarney hotels, yet it has an 81 percent TripAdvisor reviewer rating. My rating puts it closer to 100 percent! A tour company had booked rooms for our 40-member group, and I had expected a Munchkin-sized bathroom and tiny bedroom. This is not the case. Room 138 (on the second floor) is spacious, and rivals the quality of Hilton or Intercontinental. The oversized bathroom has a long Jacuzzi soaker tub and green marble sink counter. A bay window provides extra light and floor space in the already adequate sized room. Sleep quality is excellent, as the bath separates the corridor from the bedroom, but I found that KTH’s guests whisper when walking through the corridors, and room 138 is at the hallway end. The only negative is the single size beds are a little short for those of us well over six feet tall, making for toes dangling over the foot of the bed. There’s ceiling crown molding throughout the hotel’s corridors and common areas.

I learned from general manager Norma Taylor that up to fifty tour groups stay at KTH each week. Since our group was on the go during our short stay, I didn’t have time to explore the fitness center or pool, but I made time for the phenomenal buffet meals. The exceptionally friendly restaurant staff cater to every need. The salad bar had more than enough selections to make an entire meal, but I couldn’t pass up the lamb roast or stuffed salmon. There were even potatoes! Each breakfast buffet with displays kept freshly stocked was a gastronomical delight. The cheese selections include brie and Gouda, and gratefully none of the American plastic-wrapped stuff that doesn’t deserve to be called cheese. And there are pastries, rich dark breads, baked tomatoes, true home fries (or the Irish equivalent), and smiling servers keep coffee cups filled. For me, Killarney Towers Hotel is the only choice when staying in this pleasant village.

Room Tip: Rooms at the end of corridors are quieter.

The breakfast was pretty good, not outstanding. The room was terrible. Our view was the back of the hotel into an alley; I would have been happier sleeping in the broom closet. The staff was great and very accommodating. If the hotel wasn't booked, I would have asked for a better room. The pool and the hot tub are not in the hotel. You share with other hotels in the area. I didn't see it, but apparently, it was really nice. You can't beat the location of the hotel.

This Hotel is situated bang in the centre of Killarney Town and is great if you are looking for a central location. It suffers a couple of drawbacks because of this. There is no car parking facilities, however there is a reasonable car park opposite the Hotel and a very reasonable one about 400 metres away. The hotel is quite noisy, due to disco and bars at the front and I asked for a very quiet room, this was situated at the rear of the hotel and looked into a lane/courtyard. It was quiet with excellent double glazing. The room was fine by my standards, it was a good size with tea/coffee making, a safe, nce bathroom and flat screen TV. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and nice hot food. The carvery or buffet dinner in the evening in my opinion was excellent. There were four choices of main course and all were prepared and presented to a very high standard. Instead of the myriad choices as is usual, you had a select choice of high quality food and it was very keenly priced. Starter, main course, dessert for €19, a bargain and the food was faultless. The staff were very friendly, the overall appearance of the hotel was very pleasing and we will return to this hotel in the future. Didn't have time to check out the leisure facilities as there was so much going on in Killarney over the August weekend.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, ask for a very quiet room.

Interesting hotel set up. We were in Room 453 which is actually on the ground floor. Rooms a little cramped, no view, no fridge. Dining room times very regimental if you are travelling in a group and a very limited selection. A little disappointed with the wrap up it got from our Travel agent.

Room Tip: This room was very quiet compared to what the rest of the group said about theres, so if you want qu...

Our two day stay at Killarney was enhanced by our stay at the Killarney Towers Hotel. It is centrally located with great restaurants nearby (try Gabys Seafood Restaurant) The rooms are nice but not large. They are air conditioned and have free wifi (easy connection) Another feature for us was the reasonably priced same day laundry service which was great during a long holiday period. The buffet breakfast also had a good variety.
The rooms didn't have large televisions or refrigerators.

We stayed at this hotel as part of a tour group. We had one problem that was quickly resolved by the staff. We enjoyed the area around the hotel. It was easy to walk to shops, restaurants and pubs. The pubs next to the hotel were great fun with lively music and singing!
While we were walking one evening, the Killarney Community Band had set up on the sidewalk in town and entertained the people. It was great! This is a great town!

We were very quickly checked in on arrival and our room was spacious and very clean. Plenty of storage space, air-con and a nice big cosy bed and T.V. had lots of channels if you wanted to relax for a while and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee.

Room Tip: Our room was at the back of the hotel so it was nice and quiet and we were on the second floor which...
