“Beautiful place, magical surroundings”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

Killarney lakes are beautifully located in county Kerry, Ireland. You can drive around the lakes by car, and get out at several places to do short or long hikes. If you like, you can hire a carriage. The woods are magical, with moss hanging from branches and lush, tropical looking vegetation and flowers. It is busy though, so I preferred to walk to avaoid the crowds on the roads and near main attractions. I spent one day, but could have easily stayed a few more days to explore the different areas on foot. The town is busy too, with night life, restaurants and shops, a nice place to stay for exploring the park if you like the hustle and bustle.

“As they say 40 shades of green”

Peaceful and beautiful. Take the time to explore the wonder of this park. If you use the Killarney Shuttle Bus you can get off at Torc waterfall, Muckross House and Gardens or the Abbey. We walked around each of these areas and loved it. Right outside the park by the abbey is Molly Darcy's Pub so if you get thirsty from the walk, you can stop.

Beautifully well kept, national park with no admission or parking fees. Spectacular views and Muckross House is a gem. Strongly recommend visiting when in the South West.

“Killarney: a base for the Ring of Kerry”

Muckross House facing the lakes. The Torc waterfall where you can start to follow a charming path that would take to the lovely and panoramic summit. If it happen to meet a fairy, better if you speak gaelic!
