“Excellent/Great Location”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

Just spent 2 nights at this hotel and can only give in 5 stars. From the moment we arrived the staff were helpful and friendly. Our room was lovely, large bed, clean through out and plenty of hot water. We dined in the Baccus restaurant on the first night, the menu was varied and interesting and the food was excellent. Good selection of wines on the menu too. The restaurant staff were right on with their recomendations. Breakfast was very good on both mornings. The walk into the town was easily done and enjoyable. Killarney is as always a great place to visit and we had a lovely 2 days. Thank you both Killarney and Riverside Hotel staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

Stayed for an overnight at this hotel in order to attend a family function. First impression all seemed fine. Lobby and reception area modern and welcoming. Receptionst was pleasant but not very professional. A guy started our booking and without saying anything just handed the paperwork over to someone else???? When we got to the room it was really warm and old and worn. Not what you would expect for four star hotel. As we were going out we didn't delay it when we returned later that night the room was still very warm. Window was open but it was at the rear of hotel and very noisy. Some machine was going all night. At 10.30am housekeeping tried to enter the room but we told them we were still there. At 12 noon she returned and said we needed to check out as she needed the room. In all my stays in various hotels did this ever before occur. I don't think this hotel is 4 star standard and is definitely over priced. Pity as it has a fab location.

Nice hotel, our rooms were recently redecorated so nice and bright, spacious and clean. Great lighting in bathroom. Flat screen tv and safe in room. All the staff we met were really pleasant, helpful, efficient and friendly. Nice walk into town, about 10 mins. Very good breakfast: porridge, kippers, pancakes, fry up and selection of breads, meats, cheese. etc very good. Grapefruit, oranges, melon and prunes also available but they seemed to run out of the mixed fruit salad on 2of the mornings we were there. Sandwhichs in bar lovely also. No complaints at all with our stay, great value for money on a week when races and fleadh cheil were on

Stayed on our vacation tour. Not best we have stayed at. Carpet is old and worn. No AC so we asked for a fan the second night. Bed comes with a comforter, which I am sure is a must in any other season but summer. Shower was hard to use as shower curtain hugs you the entire time. The lift is slow so take the stairs. Food in restaurant was unimpressive. We had breakfast and dinner as it was part of the trip. I would look elsewhere before coming back to see if a better place was available.

I recently visited this hotel during a golf trip. The room was clean, though the bedroom needed some updating, especially the carpeting. The bathroom seemed to be in the middle of an update, but what had been remodeled was nice. We only ate at the restaurant one day because the normal opening time was 8am and our tee times required us to leave earlier than that. The one day we did have breakfast, we coat-tailed a tour group that got a special early seating. We were only able to partake of cold items in the time we had.

In general, the staff was excellent, though when I inquired at the front desk why it was necessary to get a new wi-fi password every 12 hours for each device I was essentially told I was a complainer and that I should be thankful I didn't have to pay for the service. He must have been having a bad day.

Location of this hotel is one of the high points - a short walk into town and just outside the Ring of Kerry and National Park. The comfort was okay, and the service was good. Staff helped us get a fan since our visit was during a "heat wave" and there is no air conditioning because it is not usually needed. Food was average to good.

The most annoying thing about this hotel is the WiFi. You must get both a user name and a password, per device, every 12 hours. It can be maddening.
The staff, however, make up for everything as they are most courteous and helpful.
Breakfast was fine and the location is good...a 15 minute stroll or a €5 taxi ride into town.
Constant traffic noise made it difficult to sleep
