First impressions count and the reception area of the Dromhall is lovely. Check-in was efficient also. Our room was spacious and very comfortable but the lack of tea & coffee making facilities was a disappointment.
Bar food was ok, not brilliant, but service was very friendly.
But breakfast really left the hotel down. The dining-room receptionist looked unkempt and was unprofessional. The fresh fruit salad comprised mostly of apples so soft the skins had peeled off. And the Irish breakfast ingredients seemed very cheapy, and poorly cooked, with no tomato, etc to add colour on the plate.
If tea & coffee making facilities are not important to you and if you eat elsewhere, I would recommend the Dromhall.
But I would give it 2.5 stars as I feel it is far from a 4 star hotel.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel at the weekend and we cannot praise both the hotel and the staff enough. You know when you walk through the door that it either going to be good or bad and in this case it was very good.

Had our sons Christening party in the hotel and I and all who attended had a wonderful time. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Everyone had wonderful comments about the food, hotel, bar and esp the staff. Such a relaxed atmosphere both in the bar and in the room. We really got great value for money and would highly recommend this hotel

Stayed here for 2 nights and would return!
Reception staff lovely and our room was spacious and very clean only minor fault we found was that there were no Tea/Coffee making Facilities in room although saying that you can ask at reception for them but, having them already in the room would be a nice touch. Breakfast was tasty and Kaba our waiter was very cheery and had a very warm smile for everyone!.
We had dinner in the Bristo which was very nice and relaxing, snacks in the bar with a drink and found all staff to be very friendly. Delighted to be able to bring our 2 dogs here and to not be charged for our four legged friends which was a bonus for us!
Will be returning to this hotel again and hopefully very soon. 5 minutes walk to town so a very handy location as we could leave the car in the carpark. All in all a wonderful stay.

I don't like reviews which are overly negative so I'll start with the positives. Spent 2 nights, exceptionally quiet with not many guests. Breakfast was nice and freshly cooked. Staff pleasant enough. We ate in the Bistro one evening and it was nice. Had the early bird menu which was good value. Rooms nice size and bathroom very clean. Plenty clean towels. Got a tea tray for room with plenty of tea/coffee,etc. I have a very few negatives, 2 to be exact. Noisy pipes, when the guests either next door or over head used their bathroom we could hear them. As the hotel is relatively new I was surprised. It could have been a bigger deal if the hotel was busier! Also blankets on the bed's, would have preferred duvet. Overall though had a lovely stay and good value for money (we were on a B&B package for weekend)

We found this hotel very outdated, and not in a quaint, charming way. The room wasn't very clean. It lacked basic conveniences such as tea/coffee or iron in the room. I haven't stayed at a hotel in years that didn't have such basics. The bed had unhygienic blankets rather than duvets with fresh, changed for each visit , washable covers. The restaurant wasn't open for the dinner we had paid for as a special offer with our booking. We paid an additional €80 for a 3 course meal for the two of us and had to eat in the bistro of Kayne's bar instead. The menu told us that they charged €30 per person for what we'd paid €40 for each. And the food here was very mediocre. Exactly what you'd expect out of a bar, but not for dinner for two on a weekend away. The pool had limited opening hours which were contrary to what was listed in out guest information booklet, so we missed the opportunity to use it. Also, the leisure center and spa appear not to be part of the hotel, but rather the sister hotel next door. Overall we found this to be at best a 3*hotel masquerading as something more, possibly on the back of it's sister hotel next door. I would not return there, nor would I recommend it to a friend. The only plus was the friendly staff.

Following a family celebration which we held in this hotel in March 2010 we decided to return for another in January 2011 and we were not disappointed. Nothing was too much to ask from the hotel staff. The menu suggestions made by the management were excellent, the food was superb and the private room we had was decorated beautifully and tastefully. As a professional event organiser I wish all the hotels I worked with were as easy and accomodating to work with!
