“Excellent value for money”
Reviewed 12 October 2012 via mobile

Was in Killarney for an adventure race and stayed here for 2 nights. Ideal accommodation for families or groups of people. Rooms were very clean and we were surprised by how big each room was. 2 of the bed rooms had a double and single bed and the other bedroom had a double. All rooms were ensuite. The kitchen had everything you would need to cook and we cooked there 1 night. Over all great value for money and we will be back

I really don't know how this place has had such good reviews. Myself, my husband and our 18 month old daughter stayed here and it was one of the worst holiday rentals we have stayed in, they need major renovation and a good clean. If you do go and you have an infant please take your own travel cot as the one we were provided with was an old wooden one with rusty hindges on the inside of the cot it was a good job there was an argos in town so we could buy a cot. All of the swings etc are rusty and we would not let our daughter go on them, also they did not have any baby gates which was a pain because the stairs go straight out the lounge. This is a real shame because the place has lots of potential and is in a lovely setting. Would definatly not return, sorry.

My mother, sister, and I went to Killarney and wanted a place to stay that wasn't a hotel room - as a hotel room for three women who all live alone gets a little crowded after a few days. :) So, we decided to stay at a cottage - and we had more than enough room in Killarney at the Lakeland Cottages.

We were across the road from Killarney National Park and a quick drive (less than 15 minutes) into the heart of town. The National Park was wonderful and we took two horse-drawn carriage rides through the park during our stay. The waterfall, Ross Castle, and the lakes and mountains in the park were some of my favorite parts of the trip.

Our cottage had a kitchen, downstairs bedroom and bathroom, living room, and upstairs two LARGE bedrooms and a small bathroom with shower. We had a bit of an ant problem if we left food out, but it wasn't terrible.

The cottage was adorable and comfortable. This cottage could easily have slept eight people. There were two beds in each of the upstairs rooms - one queen/full bed and one twin in each. A twin bed in the upstairs hallway. And a queen sized bed downstairs. Plenty of room for us to spread out.

We did day trips from our cottage and saw the Dingle Peninsula, the Ring of Kerry, Blarney Castle, Cork, and more. Killarney was the perfect location for our trip. We didn't have trouble finding it when we first arrived (via the Shannon Airport, between 1-2 hours away). And each morning as we headed out, we usually saw the horses clomping down the road on their way to their job carting people around at the National Park. Beautiful, peaceful, enjoyable.

We had a little trouble tracking down the people who lived there and ran the place once we checked in as we were gone almost all day each day. I would encourage you to ask them for extra toilet paper when you check in - just so you don't have to track them down when it's an "emergency" and you are nearly out. :)

The cottage was clean and the grounds at the cottage have sheep up on the hillside, beautiful flowers, and a well-maintained lawn. You don't have the cottage cleaned each day like you would in a hotel, but you can get more towels, etc. if you ask.

I would encourage you to stay here if you are wanting to visit this area of Ireland. The town of Killarney was wonderful - very nice people, good food and restaurants, and some great pubs.

There is wifi at the cottages - you just need to ask for the password.

Enjoy!

The upstairs bathroom was so small, it was impossible to get out of the shower without rubbing against the toilet.

3 female friends from the US enjoyed the Killeen cottage so much. September was quiet and we loved the location. Had rental car, so walked and drove all over SW Ireland. Lovely to drop into Tesco to get food for dinner and enjoyed it in front of the fire as Brian provided us with plenty of logs. It wasn't cold but it looked so nice. Every appliance was up to date, beds comfortable, bathrooms just great. So quiet and peaceful. Saw wonderful star-lit sky at night as no lights from town. Felt it was a very convenient location with Killarney Natl. park across the street and on the N71. We were out all day every day, no matter weather. Perhaps kids might get bored (they probably would get bored at a lot of venues these days if they didn't have internet!) The cottages are probably best as place to come back to after being out all day with plenty of places for kids to see: waterfalls, bays, cliffs, riding the jaunting carts and generally walking. Park right outside the door. Would love to go back one day.

Room Tip: The cottages are well-spaced apart so no noise from neighbors. Lots of room for kids to run and exp...

We were in the cottage for 5 nights with 4 adults and two grandsons, ages 4 and 18 months. Great setting for family. Large play area, country setting yet very close to town. Convenient to National Park, Muckross and Killarney. This is very much a cottage. Not fancy but comfortable and well equipped.

We stayed at Torc Cottage. 5 mins drive from city centre. The grounds are beautiful ideal for young kids very private really well kept.. I was very disappointed with the interior of the cottage. . It was really dull and old inside and it had a musty smell. The inside of the cottage looks a lot nicer on the website. Dont forget you have to pay for any electricity or heating that you use upon departure.
