This hotel is in the perfect location for the town centre. Rooms are lovely and spacious, bath rooms are too. Very clean and well maintained. Staff are friendly and the breakfast is fantastic.
Would highly recommend this hotel, good value for money.

First the good - very good location in Killarney, you're close to everything including short walking distance to the train station. The front desk people were very nice, although they didn't go over the top to make me feel welcome or anything - just standard, friendly people.

Now the bad - the walls and doors are absolutely paper thin, and the curtains too. For the life of me I can't understand why hotels in Ireland don't have blackout curtains, unless everyone just loves waking up at 4 AM in the summer. It's absurdly light in the very early mornings here, and stays light until around 10 PM, so to get any kind of reasonable sleep you'd think they would install blackout curtains in every room. But no.

I was woken up at 3 AM on multiple occasions by slamming doors and people walking and talking loudly in the hallway. I could hear almost everything happening in the adjoining room. And then to make it worse, once I finally got to sleep, I was woken up again at 8 AM ish by the very loud maids cleaning the rooms and vacuuming, etc. I slept maybe 4 hours a night when I was there, it was terrible. And on that note, the beds were uncomfortable with sagging mattresses. The bathroom and shower were also disappointments, and they provided only the bare minimum of toiletries. The breakfast was mediocre but serviceable - I'm sure some people enjoyed it, but there are far better options in Killarney for breakfast that I would have hated to miss out on.

Honestly I'm not sure what this place could do better other than remodel the entire place and put some soundproofing in, which is unlikely to happen. That's why I didn't have any feedback for them in person, what can they really do? But for more than EUR 100/night, I'm sure you can do better when choosing accommodation in Killarney, which is a very great place otherwise.

We only stayed the one night but James and his staff could not have been more helpful , we will definitely return and stay here again, the rooms were well appointed and very comfortable and the Irish breakfast and hospitality was second to none.

It gives me great pleasure to write this recommendation for the Fairview Guest House in Killarney!. Apart from it's ideal position - inTown & immediately adjacent to the many Restaurants, Shops & Pubs etc., that Killarney has to offer, it is certainly an excellent accommodation in all respects to facilitate a great holiday!.
The rooms are 1st.class, comfortable, well decorated & maintained, the Breakfast was quite superb with a selection capable of suiting the most varied of tastes, but a special mention must be to the staff - very helpful, polite and courteous, nothing was too much trouble for them!.
(It was so good to see how Tommy presented himself at Breakfast - lovely touch, the Suit & Bow Tie - `Rock on Tommy!!')
We had a brilliant 4 day break at the Fairview & certainly look forward to coming back again at some point in the future. Very many Thanks.

The Fairview isn't a bad hotel, but we weary travelers found it somewhat inconvenient. First of all, it's very attractive and well-situated in the center of town, just next to a large multi-store outlet facility. Breakfast, included in the tariff, is quite good. The staff work very hard and are eager to assist. The loading-unloading area in front can accommodate only a few cars (difficult during checkout time, so consider this when planning to leave), and parking (not free, but very reasonable) is in an off-site lot about a block; so if there's no room to pull in your car in front of the hotel, off the very busy street, you'll be making trips to the car and hauling luggage about a block up the street. Unfortunately, when two members in our party had to use the wifi (one somewhat urgently), we discovered that it was not working in our room. The staff were apologetic and said that they would look into the matter but were unable to do anything about it while we were there; and they were directed to the lounge area downstairs, where Internet reception was better. We were pleased, though, that, although our room was located at the front of the hotel, we heard no street noise through closed windows. This may be an issue in warmer weather, but we were comfortable with the windows closed during our visit. When we requested washcloths, a staff member brought them up to us but commented that this was an unusual request--really? I realize that some establishments don't supply them with bath and hand towels, but they're usually available on request, and without comment. We had also never before encountered the clever (but to us, mysterious) electrical system, whereby the electrical lights and outlets work only when the guest's key-card is in place in a slot by the door. Silly us, we couldn't figure out why the lights didn't come on, and when we asked for assistance--which was promptly given--the staff member said, "Haven't you ever seen this before?" We apologized for our lack of experience or understanding, just glad to have the lights on. It's a great system, but I can't believe we're the first to be confounded by it. I feel really picky writing about all these small details when the room really was quite nice and comfortable and the staff so helpful. But the details can contribute to or detract from the travel experience.
