“Apartments are stunning & great location”
Reviewed 2 September 2011

The Malton Hotel is stunning and the service, food and location are exceptional. We recently got married in Killarney (July 2011) and myself and numerous guests stayed there during our time in Kerry. Our party had four of the three-bedroom apartments and three guest rooms in the main hotel and everyone could not say enough about the place, service, food and facilities.

The staff really cannot do enough for you. A special thanks to Emer, the manager of the apartments, and all of the team for making everything run so smoothly and perfectly and for making every guest feel welcome. All of the facilities are stunning and well appointed, we really cannot speak highly enough about The Malton Hotel.

We stayed in a three-bedroom apartment, which was the base for us over our wedding week in Killarney, and our one was stunning. It was so spacious. It was set over two levels with the most amazing lounge on the top floor with double doors onto an outside decking area, which was lovely. It also had a large kitchen and dining room, three good sized bedrooms and two bathrooms. It was a perfect base for a great holiday in Killarney.

Emer could not do enough to help us. She is truly an asset to the hotel and her customer service skills are exceptional. Nothing was too much bother and she made sure everything ran perfectly! It’s a great hotel and we will certainly be going back.

A weekend trip turned into a memorable stay.First impression was of a grand hotel...the second impression was the extremely lovely staff...at all levels of service.I had a creek in my neck replying to all the cheery hellos walking down the corridors!
Our room was on the 4th floor...spacious bright and so comfortable...worth the small upgrade price.
The only fault i had was that we were having so much fun i forgot to look for the pool and leisure centre
A big thank you to Eimear who began to introduce us to the idea of having our civil partnesrship there next year...and to Mary who was such good fun(but kept the place running so well)...and also the lovely Geraldine...sorry for keeping you run ragged fetching all those glasses of wine!!!
ROLL ON CHRISTMAS...WE WILL BE BACK!!!

Just arrived back from the malton and cant say enough on how wonderful each and every member of staff was to myself and my partner,Mary Mary what a joy it was to meet you she is the guest manager, and boy is she a manager just amazing fun kind competent and more. Then we had the added joy of meeting Emer conference banqueting manager who was just wondefull to us and so helpful. And it seems she has sold us our special day for next year and christmas holiday too.
The malton team some of whom have been there for 30 years are just that rare breed that I have not come across in such a long time. They should be 5 star and more -But then not all stars shine like they should-However you all did--Thanks Clive Dublin

Stayed at this hotel over the weekend. The first part of my i would certainly rate this hotel's location. It is in the heart of Killarney is a stones throw from the train and railway station and for shopping, the Killarney Outlets.

Staff definitely warm and friendly at the front of house. The receptionist we meet at check in was welcoming. The managers were floating around and saying hello found the place friendly. Room was spotless clean, large and contemporary but wouldnt say bed was overly comfortable or was no way luxurious.

Biggest disappointment for us on our stay was the breakfast. The breakfast room is like having a meal in the middle of the railway platform. Its so badly set up, we were seated in the middle of the room and we had other customers passing us left and right of our table such was the traffic to the buffet station . Very very disappointing at a rate of 170 Euro for the night. It was topsy turvy . There was tea and coffee cup stations beside our table. And definitely too many tables in the room. The buffet selection was very very average, small selection of croissants only. Most hotels now offer freshly baked scones brown bread, croissants and pastries. Very poor quality fruit. Ordered coffee twice and twice it was very cold. So this hotel would certainly need to look at this department. Staff alot less friendly and wait staff abit all over the place I wouldn't blame them they hardly had room to move.

Ate in the Lord Kenmare Restaurant about a 3 minute walk from the hotel . Received review from Trip Advisor about this restaurant and the review was spot on. A fantastic restaurant the best i have ever gone to in Killarney. This restaurant deserves a Michelin star. Very well priced restaurant will not disappoint.

Overall a nice stay at the Malton. If it can sort out its breakfast room problems would consider returning.

Dear IrelandLola,

Thank you for your review on your stay with us at The Malton. I was disappointed to read of your overall disatisfaction with breakfast, this is not the experience we want our guests to have during their stay with us. We have our own in house bakery where we do provide fresh breads and pastries each day however we do take on board your suggestions and appreciate feedback from our customers to help us constantly improve our food offering. It was great to read that you will return to us again sometime in the future when I am sure you will experience our true breakfast experience at The Malton.

We chose to stay in the 3 bedroom self catering apartments..This is probably the best place you could stay while in killarney..we have 4 kids age 3,4,6 and a 12week old..We booked our accomodation through Eimer (manager over these apartments)..she was 100% accurate with everything we requested..the appartments were spotless, bedrooms were generous in size, even underfloor heating in the master ensuite floor..the beauty about the 3 bedroom apts is the enormous living room up stairs (approx 12ft x 36ft) which consists of 3 luxurious couches which was perfect for the whole family to watch a dvd on the big flat screen or leave the kids up there on their own watching tv or colouring..Also upstairs off this room is a very large secure balcony/Decking area for those sunny afternoons..Extras were offered if needed eg. gate for stairs, travel cot, dvd player..This was like home from home..There was even washing tablets provided for the washing machine and dish washer..you also have the use of the hotel gym and kids can also attend the kiddies club within the hotel (all inclusive) we brought the kids to the club on 2 different evenings, one evening there was a magician which performed for an hour and the second evening the kids spent an hour learning to make a desert with a chef from the hotel ..The location is excellent as it is practically in the town, parking is free and was very secure..the cinema is about 100 yards from the hotel..the supervised playroom offers an excellent service of minding kids over 4 years old between 7 & 9:30pm free while mammy and daddy eat in peace..kids can watch films there or play games with the minders(all very friendly girls)..I cannot recommend these apartments highly enough..We will def return.

Have just arrived home after spending 5 days in Malton 2 bedroomed self catering apts. Our party consisted of 4 adults and a 6 month old baby. We intended to book a hotel in Killarney, but travelling with a baby we opted for self catering. The apartments were great, very clean, comfortable and spacious. It had a fully equipped kitchen with every modern convenience, and we also were supplied with biscuits, tea, coffee, milk, a bottle of wine, highchair and cot for baby. One bedroom was en-suite with a walk-in shower, family bathroom had bath and shower, all supplied with plenty of towels, more when requested, and usual hotel bottles of shampoo etc. The location is perfect, just off Main street, and beside Railway station, but very quite and private, and right beside back entrance to Malton hotel where we had free use of all leisure facilities etc. The downside to these apartments is the view, your either overlooking other apartments or the carpark! These apartments suited our needs perfectly, all the perks of the hotel, but the room and freedom you need when travelling with family. We'll be back!

Good size room, comfortable bed. However, cosmetic updates are needed. The room was decorated a better for the 90s, which did not match the first floor. Shower curtain was not long enough and causes wet floor. Walls are paper thin-- could hear the people next door using the bathroom!
