A fantastic wedding venue with great staff and good management, everything was perfect from the drinks reception to the entertainment, the food was stunning which was amazing as there was over 300 guests. It was a real party atmosphere with the staff looking after us into the wee hours! well done to all!!!

Arriving off the train on christmas eve at just after noon we were able to be settled in immediately to the junior suite we had asked for in advance and so began our 3 day christmas stay. After stocking up our fridge with christmas goodies...including complimentary chocs,we headed out to the fantastic atmosphere of christmas eve in killarney.
Glowing candle shops...olde worlde seet shops...pubs loud and lively and full of laughter....and after a tipple or two or three we returned to get ready for the evening.
People were gathering in the lobby for champagne and yes it was apparent to see that in general the crowd were of an older generation. They were glamerous, had beautiful style but were full of fun ,merriment and divilment given half a chance.
Dinner was a grand affair and your allocated table was to be yours for the duration of the three day stay.I found the food to be of a great standard but it was the floor staff who really made it special....Massimo ,your encyclopaedic wine advise was invaluable...and Coszia(sorry ,know thats spelt wrong),,,you are a wonderful waitress and a very special lady...likewise Dora...frankly too many to mention...
Carols at christmas eve after dinner were ok...but i think either increase the size of the choir or just change the music...it didnt work for me....likewise the dancing after dinner stephens night just finished too early and would have been better aweay from the foyer so people could dance later without keeping guests awake......Apart from those onlt two gripes
it was perfect.
My favourite moment???stephens day on the steps of the hotel waving off the hunt with the mulled wine...very special ..
Conor the general manager has picked a good team....and Mary mCgonagle
the guest manager belongs in Aras an uachtaran...she is a force of nature and a very spcial kind of person.
Finally to all the wonderful people we met there...too many to mention you know who you are....i hope to see some of you soon

The Malton is a superb hotel with a lovely olde worlde charm about it. Its in a fab location (heart of Killarney next to the Train Station). The rooms are really good, the bar is lovely and inviting - -plus the food in the Hotel restaurant is superb (we had an overnight stay offer which included an evening meal.... and it was really really good). Overall an excellent hotel. Well done.

We stayed in the apartment complex adjoining the hotel in November 2011 for three nights. The apartments are spotless and are well maintained. It is located in the centre of Killarney so there is plenty to do nearby. Even though it was the midterm, the complex was quiet.

The pool in the hotel is very clean, my one issue would be with the privacy of the gents changing rooms. Once the door is open people can be seen changing. The pool was spotless nonetheless.

The staff in the hotel are fantastic and are very good when dealing with problems. Through no fault of the hotel, my wife got food poisoning and the staff could not have done more for us. They were very attentive and were an example of how to look after guests.

The food in the bar was very tasty and very reasonably priced. Again the staff were very pleasant.

There was a kids club which had a lot of both day and night activities for kids. The kids enjoyed anything they went to.

All in all a very enjoyable stay.

we went for dinner in the garden room at the weekend which was recommended by several people.first impressions where great it has a traditional feel with a modern touch.the food was excellent seasoned perfectly and very tasty. must say the chefs know there business, but must single out the pastry chef for special praise the desserts were fantastic.the meal was only let down by the service/grumpy waitress we had.she could'nt be bothered to explain what the specials or what appetizers were put in front of us,when asked what it was we got a sharp response of two words we could'nt understand then she turned and was on her way.the same happened with the breads no explaination at all.we were never asked if we wanted more drinks during the meal it was serve and disappear till we were finished.i know these are minor issues but you are paying 5 star price a smile would have been nice!! this is not up too the high standards of other restaurants we have gone too where everything was presented and explained without hesitation and with a simle.overall a great meal could improve on service.

Stayed here a number of times in recent years and it still retains its old world charm and appeal with a terrific library and reading room, throwbacks to more traditional times.

This is one of the top Killarney hotels and although we were here for a conference it was a pleasure to stay at this hotel.

There was live music in the Lounge in the evening and drink prices were reasonable given the hotel's quality.

A couple of mnior quibbles, no shelf space at the handbasin in the bathroom, not too bad for a lone male guest but could be irksome if the bathroom was being used by a couple.

Unfortunately this hotel seems to have gone the way of the horrible hot bins for breakfast food, my last and prevous visits saw breakfast orders taken and served to your table which seems now to have been dispensed with.

Granted the choice and quality of food was terrific but a shame a hotel of this standard and reputation has slipped into this breakfast service.

I have stayed in The Malton twice recently.
Both times I have been really happy with the hotel. The staff are lovely, attentive and appear to be interested in you. The food is really good, lovely breakfast and the breakfast room is fabulous.
Only quibble I have is the first time we stayed there we had a fantastic room in the old part of the hotel and the next time, we didnt ger as nice a room as it was just about average - luck of the draw I guess!
However thats a very minor complaint - for such a large hotel, The Malton are certainly doing something right - so well done

Room Tip: Ask for the old part of the hotel! You might get a bigger room
