“History close up and personal”
Reviewed 29 October 2013

Really interesting accounts of the people who left Ireland to emigrate to America and beat the potato famine. Maybe just one person per family could be afforded and as they left they knew they were never seeing their family again and that they would probably starve. Heart breaking stuff. Got to be visited.

“Windy day at the Windmill”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

Wanted to see what´s inside this complex. Price per quest is 5€ and contains 10min. film of Windmills history together with overall history of this area. All kinds of old stuff is collected to explore. The windmill itself is not very interesting - maybe because it looks so new. After the windmill you can go to train model section which is more interesting exspecially for children and train enthusiasts. There is spacious carpark just outside the windmill and a shop for local crafts.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed 11 September 2013

From the outside it is lovely, a gleaming white tower at waters edge-very photogenic. The first time I was in Blennerville I missed the old ruined shell of the windmill. Just after my second visit, they erected the scaffolding for renovation. Since then it has been a source of photographic wonderment. I have seen from the Stacks Mountains as far away as 12 kilometers, and I have seen it from the air over the River Shannon.

Based on the outside, I expected to be wowed by the inside. Alas, for 5 Euros I didn't feel I got my money's worth. They have also done away with the gift shop.

“Inexpensive and interesting”
Reviewed 2 September 2013

Just 2 minutes drive from Tralee town centre, its only a 5 euro entrance fee, there is a little museum area and you can climb almost to the top of the windmill itself. They don't take cards you need to pay in cash. There is a model railway onsite which is fun for kids and a cafe for refreshments, grand for an hour or so.

“Interesting”
Reviewed 1 September 2013

It's all a bit craggy island but it's grand for the price. The windmill is interesting but there wasn't a lot of info regarding its history etc. it could do with a guide. The model railway exhibition fascinated the four year with us. The man who doesn't appear to have a purpose but to stare at the visitors in this area is however a bit scary. The coffee shop is nice and has friendly staff. An inexpensive hour.
