“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2013

We arrived early in the day and asked Gerald if we could leave our car parked in their area while we visited the library at the end of the block before setting out to explore the area. He was most accommodating and provided us with maps of sites to see and made sure to tell us what way to drive the pass so we were on the inside of the road on the narrow part. When we returned in the evening Juliette welcomed us to her family's 150 year old home and gave us directions on how to walk downtown and where to eat for the best food. We were delighted when she let us know that internet access was available wirelessly in our room. In the morning she delighted us again with her stories and served us a wonderful breakfast. I would go back just for her eggs with smoked salmon!

Green Gables B&B had the best beds of all the ten accommodations we stayed in on our Ireland travels. The rooms were heated well, plenty of hot water, and quiet. The rooms are very small and the bathrooms even smaller. The house is challenging to find but it is within walking distance to downtown through a beautiful green park, The Rose of Tralee. There is next to no off street parking, but we were able to find a street parking place in front of the house. The home owners were delightful, very accommodating, and enjoyable.

My family and I stayed at Green Gables July 2012 for one week. It was the experience we were hoping for and more! Juliette and Gerald are lovely and accommodating hosts. They are extremely open to helping you out with your planning and are lovely conversationalists too. The beautiful home is very comfortable everything you'd expect from a B&B. They keep it very clean and welcome you to use the common space as you like.
Every morning we looked forward to the traditional Irish breakfasts, Juliette’s breakfasts were so plentiful and delicious; surely not to disappoint. We were able to tour until 3pm without stopping again to eat. Tralee is perfectly situated if you are interested in exploring the surrounding areas, as we did. Each day was a new adventure in a different village. We were never tired of driving, because nothing was too far away. Tralee itself can be explored in one afternoon. It is a small village with one main road. Juliette gives you a recommendation of where to eat each night you go out. Everything is within walking distance from Green Gables, so there is no need to worry about taking the car out again at night for dinner.
I would definitely recommend Green Gables to anyone in the tripadvisor community.

We thank Gerald for his kindness and warmth and for the breakfast we ate.

However, would we recommend Green Gables for a friend as a comfortable and relaxed stay? No.

A dusty, moisty and cold room is something we would not like to experience again. See the images we took while not believing our eyes.

Gerald and Juliette are the perfect hosts for this lovely 3 storey Victorian home situated in the most beautiful part of Tralee across form the rose garden and park. You will feel at home the minute you enter this well organised home. The smell of home cooked meals, friendly chatter of the family downstairs and the great individualised breakfasts is something to return for. I just love the organic oats cooked in milk served fresh on weekdays and then a variety of egg dishes on weekends as per my own request! I have lived with the Callaghans for the last 2 years for 20 days at a time and will certainly go back again this year. Their friendly homeliness helps with the homesick feeling when away from your family for work. I can fully recommend this lovingly decorated home with attention to the finest detail. Juliette is a classy lady!

Room Tip: Rooms with a private bathroom is probably preferred.

We called late in the afternoon tired and hungry from traveling and the owners couldn't have been nicer. They suggested a place to eat which was very nice and even gave us a short cut through a beautiful public park to get to the hotel where the resturant was. The beds in our rooms were comfortable and the shower was the best. We had a full Irish breakfast including all the usual fare plus coffee(for us Yanks!),tea, cereal and fresh cut fruit. Our hosts were so friendly, they posed for pictures with us, gave us travel advice and saw us on our way with a friendly wave. We would definitely stay there again.

We were in Tralee this August for the annual Rose of Tralee festival and had a very lovely stay at the Green Gables B&B. My trip over had been a nightmare but the owner was kind enough to stay up until midnight to greet me and I was very grateful for the welcome. The B&B is located on a quiet street within walking distance to town which made it perfect for leisurely wandering to see the sights of Tralee. The rooms are nicely decorated and our King size bed was extremely comfortable, and the breakfasts each morning were plentiful....cereal, juice, eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, fresh grapefruit and a pot of tea...lovely! Juliet and Gerald, our hosts, were extremely helpful with directions and suggestions and I would stay at the Green Gables again the next time I am in Tralee.
