We asked for a dinner recommendation from the patrons at Shem's pub nearby. Sending us to Langton was a good call. Braised lamb was a very good dish. My wife had another lamb dish three ways which was good but not great. Other dishes we saw looked good too.

The service was fine but slow when we wanted to cash out. We were there on a Tuesday evening and caught some good traditional Irish music performed. Overall I'd call it a safe bet for a good meal in Kilkenny.

We had read that this was THEE place to go, and it was just okay. Feel we wasted time on a mediocre spot....had to spend 30 minutes waiting for the bill, and the food was average at best.

Good value, good quality.
I knew that Langtons has been a popular eaterie for decades but up to this I've only eaten there at functions, which were, by the way, most satisfactory.
There was a group of five of us , some of us had one course, more two courses and at the last minute we decided to ask the staff if they could do anything to help us celebrate a birthday for one of the group and they were most accommodating with a birthday candle in a desert and a 'Happy Birthday' song.
Excellent value for money.
We were late being seated at our table which wasn't great as we had booked but once we were seated we were served promptly by a young buy pleasant server. It was clear that the server was inexperienced as we weren't advised of any specials until we asked and we weren't asked for a drinks order. But non the less the service was pleasant and prompt.
All in all, very pleasant.

This was our first stop after flying all night from Florida. We wanted good local food, locals and an Irish band. Sit in the bar area if you want the band. We sat at the bar and chatted with the bar tenders. Great beer selection as we had to try Rick Steves' Smithwick. All food was excellent not the best we've ever had, but excellent. We ordered fish and Irish Stew. Very pleased. You MUST order the Baileys ice cream desert even if you are not a Baileys fan (my Irish girl friend is not), the ice cream and sauce blend is worth making this your stop for dinner. (Even this desert caused the famously stubborn Irish to eat half my desert).
