Reviewed 4 August 2012

Anyone visiting Kilkenny must visit this place. Great history; great staff; great value and great food. nighttime great music and Diarmuid, his colleague, Nuala and the staff will stop at nothing to ensure your visit is memorable. A visit to \kilkenny would not be complete without going her. Ask about Dame Alice the Witch - Great history. Will be back again lads....

“Good music and Good food”
Reviewed 4 August 2012

Most likely the best pub for us in Kilkenny. Superior food. Very good music. Very nice surroundings including a back covered patio.

“A Great Night of Music”
Reviewed 3 August 2012

Established in 1324, the pub is build out of the black stone that Kilkenny is so famous for. We were actually looking for music, rather than food or drink, and saw that a band named the Raglan Rogues was playing at 8:30. It was crowded with tourists and locals alike, Some locals mouthed the words to the songs – some pretending to mouth the words – some sang aloud, their hands in the air. It was a joyful place. The talent of the band and the good cheer of the crowd made it a memorable night and we could not resist going back the next to hear the same team that sang beautifully, had charming banter, and between the two of them could play tin whistle, harmonica, guitar, mandolin, banjo and bodhran. Yes, we bought the CD.

“Fab Food and Fab Atmosphere!”
Reviewed 3 August 2012

Went here for some food and ended up staying for the wonderful music and craic! The staff couldn't have been more helpful, we had a child in a wheelchair and they were so willing to sort the ramp for us and help, the food was delicious and the craic was brilliant, great banter between the staff and the entertainment and their audience! We would definately go back there!

“Great Atmosphere”
Reviewed 3 August 2012

We had a lovely few hours in this pub/restaurant.
The staff were extremely friendly and attentive.
It has a number of different areas including lovely outside seating with bar.
Each area had its own atmosphere, the bar had sport on the TV, the outside area had a live band, who were very good, then in another room which felt quite gothic they had a traditional Irish Music session, when we revisited later in the week they had traditional music session with dancers, they were excellent musicians and the dancers were wonderful and so colourful in their competition costumes.
We ate once in here and the food was very nice, no complaints, and good value for money. The selection and Quality of beers was also very good.
Very old place with a great history.
Great place to visit, would recommend it to everyone, couples, friends and family groups.
