We stayed in the Newpark Hotel for 2 days and I have to say that the staff were just so attentive, efficient and friendly. I cannot complement them highly enough for the service we received during our stay.

The rooms ,bar , food etc were all lovely. The bar area is a lovely place to sit around and chill out. The hotel is small distance from the centre of Kilkenny - €4 in a taxi (we were too lazy to walk!)

The hotel was lovely and I would recommend it if staying in Kilkenny. I really couldn't find fault with this hotel or it's staff.

I'm just back from a two night stay in the Newpark Hotel From start to finsh I could not fault this hotel. The staff were just so welcoming and helpful, we were really taken care off. The room we stayed in was amazing, it was one of the suites, and it was really spacious and clean and just perfect. The hotel has been refurnished since our last stay and looks really well, and has every amenity you could want on a weekend away, the food is excellent and it has a great bar for chilling out in. There is Hotel parking and the hotel is a walk away from the city centre. Kilkenny city is a great place for socializing we will definitely be back. We both enjoyed every aspect of our stay with the Newpark hotel.

Having stayed in a few hotels in Kilkenny city I have to agree with the last post of this hotel, it is certainly not a family oriented hotel. We were placed at the very back of the hotel in rooms that I can only describe as dreadful and certainly do not warrant a 4 star rating - luxurious they are not as advertised on their website. The hotel had a wedding on both the Friday and Saturday of our stay and we were woken at 5am to screaming and shouting outside our room for over 20 mins, when we mentioned this at reception they just did not want to know. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone with families.

Fortunately we were in Ireland during a warm spell, but when we arrived at Newpark the windows had been open all day and our room was full of mosquitos. It appeared to be an older facility that had been renovated but we could never get an empty elevator near our room (i. e. needed more elevators). I enjoyed the pianst in the parlor during the evening hours and breakfast was pretty good.

We booked 4 rooms in the hotel for the weekend, three of the rooms with children staying. One of the rooms we got had a big water stain on the ceiling and the some of the lights didn't work leaving the room very dark. This was meant to be 4 Star standard ??All of the rooms were dated and dark. The hotel advertise that it has been refurbished, but bedrooms certainly have missed out. The lobby and bar might have been redecorated but rooms are very disappointing.
The hotel is supposed to be a child friendly hotel, yet the advertised kiddies club wasn't open. We were then asked to remove the children from the bar on the Friday night at 9pm, just as we had finished eating, which we had no problem doing. However on the following night there were children in the bar at 10pm. When we questioned the staff on the policy of 'children in the bar', we were told they didn't have one?
We had booked the package as Bed, breakfast and evening meal with the Supervalue Club Breaks, which include children go free. However we were charged extra the childrens meals and €6.50 for a six year old breakfast which was a bowl of cereal. When I asked the reception about this when checking out she advised it was the hotels policy to charge this for the childres meals.
After all this I would nver return to the hotel again.

We stayed in the Newpark last weekend for a Wedding. We stayed the Friday and Saturday night there. Please be warned that if you book a Classic Room, you do not get the room that is shown on the Website. You get the older part of the Hotel that has not been refurbished. The room is very dated and old looking. The hairdryer is like a hoover on the wall in the bathroom. The room was cold as somebody else mentioned. It was also very noisy on the Corridors at night and in the morning but that is down to the Guests staying there not having the manners to respect other guests.

The breakfast was ok both mornings. You don't have a choice of something different rather than a Full Irish, unlike other Four Star Hotels.
We had the meal at the Wedding on the Friday night and I couldn't fault it. We also ate in the Restaurant on the Saturday and that was equally as good.

The Hotel should put up both types of Room on their Website so that at least people will know beforehand what Room they are hand and not get a shock when they go up to their room.

I would go back again but would pay the extra money for the "Superior Room".

We booked this so-called 4 star hotel, for a 3 day break, but when we were shown to our room, we decided not to stay. The room was dark, musty, and nothing short of a disgrace. We enquired about the better rooms as we had seen them on their website and on our way through to our dungeon of a room. We were then told that the other rooms were available for an extra 30 euro per room per night!! We had booked 2 rooms so this would have added an extra 180 to the cost of our stay. The staff were unhelpful to the point of being rude, and obviously could not have cared less whether we stayed or not. We then booked into the Springhill Court and even though this was only a 3 star Hotel it was much more pleasant than the Newpark.
