I can't believe anyone would give this hotel an excellent rating. They must not stay in many hotels for comparison. My wife and I just did a 2 week road trip through Ireland (from Canada) and this was by far the worst hotel we stayed at despite a travel guide endorsing it and the pictures on the website looking promising. The lobby is fine but the rooms are very, very dated and not very clean at all. We paid nearly $100/ night for this dump and ended up checking out after 1 night. We walked accross the street to the Pembroke Hotel and paid the extra $10 for a wonderful hotel. Please save yourself the trouble and don't make the same mistake we did; just go to the Pembroke.

Not only did we feel welcomed to the Club House Hotel, but to Kilkenny as well. The staff was attentive to our every need, the breakfast room beautiful and served a fresh made to order breakfast. I traveled there with my daughter, and as soon as they knew she was looking for long term living arrangements all were involved in helping us with our search for a flat. Once we found a place for her to live, the owner offered to take us (and our many bags) in his own car to her new location. As I left her to come home I felt comforted that they offered their freindship and support to her. She was to see them if she should need anything in the future during her extended stay in the beautiful town of KIlkenny, . In my many travels abroad it is rare to find such warmth........THANK YOU

I thought hotels had to be above a certain standard these days. Had to walk a long way to our dismal, old room. Not comfortable at all - didnt even bother with breakfast either morning of our stay. Such a depressing place & definately not worth the cost.

The hotel is located very close to the city centre however it is very dated. The room I was in was very small, the bed wasn't the most comfortable and the shower didn't work. For €110 b&b per room I think there is a lot better value to be had.

Myself & My Wife decided to visit Kilkenny for the Savour Kilkenny Festival. We decided to participate in the Sensory Dining Expierence in The Club House Hotel. My Cellar of recollection is bursting with wonderful thoughts and moments. You are to be congratulated in organising a magnificent evening-quite unique- and delivered with such aplomb and efficiency. The evening was judged by everyone as perfection. At a time when life is so precarious and challenging, it was especially encouraging that there is still an hotel which delivers on it's promise. The concept of a blind dinner was inspired and challenged the senses not forgetting a good dollp of fun and humour It was a huge effort by every one of your staff. Thank you and congratulations.

This hotel is outdated but close to EVERYTHING in Kilkenny, has an extremely nice staff and also offers a full, tasty breakfast! It's inexpensive, too! The beds are not too comfortable but we weren't in the rooms much-the town is adorable! They also offer parking right in back-which was great since we had a 9 passenger van for our family of 8! We needed 3 rooms but they set us up right next door to each other in a non smoking area of the hotel. Our tub/shower was defective but they came up right away to help! If you are looking for luxury-this isn't it but inexpensive stay, great food and walk to everything-then this is a perfect spot.
Our 6 kids are aged 8-21 and we all loved Kilkenny. If my husband and I came back alone-I'd upgrade the room but for our large family-it was worth it!

The Club House Hotel is a 200-year-old establishment in the very heart of the town center of Kilkenny City, Ireland. We were greeted with smiles and helpful service throughout our 6-day stay. The room was spacious and clean, the beds comfortable and all of the necessary amenities were furnished.

The continental breakfast could include pan-fried trout, poached eggs, delicious brown bread, etc. There is free parking in the back and Kilkenny Castle is a true 5-minute walk from the hotel. This is not an older hotel looking to live on its reputation, rather an on-going effort to reach back to the time when it was the center of the Hunt Club of Kilkenny and at the heart of the social life of the city.

I can't speak highly enough of the owner and the staff. The restaurant menu is superb and the prices for everything are very reasonable.
