Myself and the girlfriend stayed recently for 2 nights (fri and sat) and what a great spot! the place has everything you could want under the one roof. We arrived off the train tired and hungry and strolled to the the langton hotel in about a minute from the train (heaven after a long train journey!). After checking in with the very polite girl on reception (can't recall her name!) we popped downstairs for a quick bite to eat and a well deserved drink for our weary bodies planning an early night to catch the sights early the next day. After getting lost in the Multiple bars throughout all with different themes/styles from old to new, we settled in the cosy candle lit front bar where we had some great honest to god homely food. After more than the one planned in the bustling front bar we headed off to our comfy rooms with all the essential amenities that we needed to hand. Next day we woke to a great breakfast served by v friendly staff and hit the sights of the town after getting some great recomendations from the receptionist for sights and places to see which could not have been more helpful to us. On the way back from town ended up popping into quirky looking gift/grocery store Bridies which had a hidden bar in the back of it through a set of saloon swing doors!!! (turned out to be part of the hotel as well) Ended up having a drink out the back of the deceptively large walled beer garden which continued the interiors charm and quirkeness to the outside as well !!!! even managed to grab some old school qtr sweets and a couple of super presents on the way back to the room in the grocers. Dinner was incl in our booking for one of the nights which we had chose for saturday night in the main restaurant, yet again we were not disappointed, plenty of choice on the menu and when the food came it was superb!!! We ended up checking out the Set theatre (one of 2 of the hotels clubs) which was unbeliveably cool, the interior of the place was nothing like we had ever seen before, with a smoking area/courtyard to match, the music was even funkier than the crowd and ended up spending a great night here. If you are looking for a lively spot with more bar options than you can chose, throw in great food and service and a lively vibrant crowd then this is the place to stay. We are most definately coming back and the only complaint we have is that we did not stay long enough...

Let this be a warning to other People , never ever stay in Langtons Kilkenny on a Thursday or Saturday Night as both night there a loud Disco blearing music until the early hours in the morning approx 3a.m. , after that all the people stream out on to the street shouting and been unsocialable .They spent the next 90 mins or so trying to get a cab so they can go home . It only starts to get quiet at approx 5 a.m. Then at approx 6 am the street starts to get busy again with the morning deliverys to the street .
Worst of all the staff never tell you when you reserve the room that Thursday and Saturday their will be a disco until the early hours , if they had the manners to advise you , you could take this into account .
SO NEVER EVER STAY AT LANGTONS IN KILKENNY ON A THURSDAY OR A SATURDAY NIGHT..

Flatscreen TV, dinnerplate sized shower head, large bath- we were shocked that it was such a gem. We had to leave at 6am for a flight and when we enquired about early checkout, the night porter surprised us by making sure that breakfast was ready even though it didn't start for another hour!! Tried to book it again on our next visit to Kilkenny but it was unfortunately booked out- and that was mid week! Can't wait to get back there :).
