“Beautiful Gardens”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

The gardens were quite beautiful. We went on a weekday while it was raining so we had the place basically to ourselves. The best part was the Noble Fir Walk where the trees just towered over you. Great place to go for a nice walk.

“Nice walks, reasonable entry fee”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

Only E4 per car so a cheap day out - picnic area on site too. Beautiful walks in the grounds, nice playground for kids. Make sure to have E4 in coin so you can exit car park!

“Fantastic Spot For Walking, Picnics & Kids”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

Woodstock House & Gardens lies just above Insitioge which is a beautiful village in the Kilkenny countryside. Although the house is a ruin the grounds have undergone restoration and make for a fabulous spot for walking and a picnic. There is great space for kids to run around and play ball as well as a play area. The trees are majestic making it pleasant to walk around the grounds or through the tree lined avenues for longer walks. There is a lovely cafe in a glass folly behind the walled garden making a great place to visit on a sunny day! The cost is just €4.00 per car and you pay on the way out at a machine on the barrier so make sure you have change.

“a tree delight”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

The combination of the Victorian gardens and arboretum, with the wreck of the burned-out mansion preserved in the middle is a reminder of the great days of the Anglo-Irish estates, the subsequent Troubles and the really good attempts that are being made to ensure that these estates are not lost or forgotten. We spent a whole afternoon there and enjoyed it all. Some of the trees are rare and special, the walled garden is being restored to its glory days. There's a children's playground, a cafe in the old aviary.
The entry fee of4 euros per vehicle is ridiculously cheap for what you get.
