I stayed here with my family mid-week for 1 night and it was one of our worst hotel experiences any of us have previously had. The hotel is dirty and poorly maintained. We asked for 2 non - smoking rooms however our room was stinking of smoke and even the bed clothes were smelling of smoke. The bars were grimy. We discovered later that night that we had been given rooms over the very noisy beer garden. The noise went on until 3.30am despite calls to the reception. We should not have been given these rooms without warning us of the location. I was with my parents who are in their 70's and they got little or no sleep. When we complained again in the morning the staff did not give a damn. They had a dreadful attitude and we would never stay here again.

I was unsure about what to expect from this hotel but I was not disapointed! We arrived later than planned so when we checked in the room we recieved was over the bar. As we wanted a quiet few days I went to reception who were so helpfull and changed us to an even bigger room that was in a much quieter area. This was despite the fact that they were very busy and all rooms were almost taken, so thank you again! The hotel breakfast was nice, perhaps it just needs a few extra 'continental' style items as the selection is limited to cereal & fruit. The bar was so lovely, with good prices & food selections. The location of this hotel is its biggest selling point! You are right in the heart of the action! Lovely little Chinese restaurant just over the road and so many lovely little pubs and shops. You could spend hours just walking around all the little side streets. Would stay here again if I returned!

Room Tip: Room 100 was a little out of the way but it is a tripple so large and quiet....

I stayed here with my wife for a two night break. On arrival we were firstly delighted with the free off street parking. On entering the hotel we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist. We were given our room and it was of a very good standard (no complaints there). The bed was comfy and the shower was powerful. The food in the hotel was excellent and the bars were top class. We would definitely stay here on our next trip to Kilkenny. I can't speak highly enough of this hotel.

I was on a day out in Kilkenny yesterday and decided to go in here for something to eat. The girl that served us behind the bar was so terribly rude.No conversation, no please , no thank you. When the 2 plates were banged down in front of us she asked did we want sauces which she slapped down in front of us again. It was possibly because the match was on or maybe she was just having a bad day but either way its no way to treat customers.Basic manners should be a minimum requirement for people in the hotel industry. Its a shame to think that after a day out in a beautiful city that the unfriendliness is what you remember most.

Spent 2 nights in this hotel with my two children. The staff were so lovely and kind, really looked after my children too. Great music in the bar, not just current pop music... Lovely big room, comfy beds, spotless bathroom. My only suggestion to the hotel would be to have a separate childrens menu. Otherwise, we enjoyed the food, the staff were friendly, welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable. We'd definitely come back, especially if it was left up to the children!

The location of this hotel is excellent and the free, safe parking for overnight guests. The reception staff are very friendly and helpful. Bar food leaves a lot to be desired - although it is good value for money. Overall, we would return to this hotel but primarily for the location.

My wife and I got a voucher based midweek deal for two nights B&B which was good value but our room was tiny, buried in the bowels of the hotel with one small window looking out on an array of air conditioning units. If I had paid the full room rate, I would have been very unhappy but maybe this is what you get when you go for a bargain. Apart from the room and the smelly toilets just off the reception area, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts were first class. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but it could have been so much nicer if we had been given a modern room with a bit more light.

Room Tip: Make sure you don't get a room in the older part of the hotel.
