Just back from weekend away in Kilkenny with my husband We booked the Kilford over internet and was pleasantly surprised on arrival. Reception staff were very helpful and friendly and informed us what was happening in hotel over weekend and where to go in Kilkenny, they were very professional and helpful. Our rooms were clean and roomy Breakfast was good again very helpful and friendly staff more than willing to help us. The locatrion of hotel allowed us to walk through the city and get a taste of kilkenny, a beautiful city .
We will definitely be back in Kilkenyy and Kilford Arms again as soon as we can arrange another short break Thanks to all

Spent 2 nights in the hotel recently. The hotel is ideally situated with a residents car park. I had taken advice from the previous reviews and ensured that our room was not over the night club hence the room was quite. The main bar was a little dismal so, except for a quick drink, we did not use the bar. Main reception nice & bright, bedroom, nice, clean, bright & comfortable. Beds not so comfortable, uncomfortable actually. Kettle,Tea & Coffee supplied, hair dryer & iron. First hotel I have stayed in with wooden floor coverings but made for a clean feel to the room.
Food at breakfast was ok, nothing special but nothing to complain about. The main feature for us were the staff. Friendly & helpful at all times. Restaurant staff brilliant. Overall a good experience and I would have no problems recommending this hotel to other couples seeking a city break.

Room Tip: Make sure your room is away from the night club as the hotel is an Entertainment Centre.

My wife and myself stayed at this hotel recently, we entered the hotel from the car park through the smoking area/night club and found this particular bar dismal, however the reception was cheerful and the receptionist was very pleasant. We stayed in Room No 52, this was probably the worst layout/designed room I have ever seen. Window at one side (overlooking pub back yard next door) with a long bench along the wall, no table or chairs, small stool underneath the bench. (By halving the bench and putting in a small table and two chairs would make all the difference. The Bathroom was nice and roomy, however I cannot figure out why the toilet was stuck so close to the wall you could barely sit on it, there were fresh towels, soap and shower gel, but no shampoo. The double bed was just about all right, not the most comfortable. The best thing about this hotel was the food and the friendly staff. The meals were fantastic, buffet breakfast was lovely. Bars were ok, O'Faolans bar was very basic and a bit noisy due to the TV being up to the highest setting with some so called pop music (probably to attract the younger generation in to the late bar). All in all we would probably visit again, the car parking was handy with easy access.

Room Tip: Not room 52

We stayed for one night on our travels around Ireland. Lovely hotel and bar areas. food was delicious. I recommned the BLT. have not tasted one as good anywhere else. the roast is lovely too.

Our room was a triple for just the two of us, so plenty of room and a decent sized bathroom, a great location for visiting Kilkenny, in the heart of the city.

We would stay again.

Ideal location on John Street. Free resident parking. Friendly reception. Bedroom very well equipped with free safe deposit box, iron. Good size with double [ not the most comfoprtable] & single. There is a maze of corridors and stairs off the lift but OK. Breakfast was good quality although shortage of cold hams etc. Dinner menu very good , plentiful and tasty. We were on a voucher and restricted to 2 courses - " a bit mean " I think! The bar had mid-week singer though not very many customers. Prices usual for area. Most of the dinning/bar staff nice and friendly but sadly the room maid was unresponsive to a "good morning" - not even a grunt. This is the first time we have not "tipped" the maid event though the work was done! We would stay again if in the area but there are plenty of choices nearby. Kilkenny itself is a lovely city with good shoppng and historical value. Castle gardens & river lovely.
