This location was great for exploring Kilkenny. One huge plus is parking in the back, and another if you're light packers like us, is a laundromat just around the corner. And the price was quite affordable.

The hotel itself isn't anything special, but it was quite serviceable for our needs and was clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful, the beds were a bit on the firm side for us. We never tried the breakfast, so I can't comment on that.

The parking and location alone would make me stay here again.

We booked this hotel through a discount website; bought the voucher then made the booking. There are some restrictions on dates on this type of discount- but not many. We got the dates we were looking for. The hotel has it's own parking area at the back, accessed through a very narrow alley, which we could have missed if we hadn't followed the hotel's own directions. Parking is free for residents.
We checked in around 2.30. It was efficient and well done. There are more than 60 rooms here, spread out over extensive floor space; it's a low-rise building. We were given a family room; double bed and two singles...plenty of room. Good basic rooms, no frills. There are no complimentary shower gels or lotions in tiny bottles - but there is shower gel and liquid hand soap in large dispensers fixed to the wall.

Beds were extremely comfortable. There is a kettle and tea and coffee, an iron, and a hairdryer fixed to the bathroom wall. It is bang in the centre of Kilkenny, within a short walk of everything the traveller would like to see. We didn't move the car for two days as everything was so accessible.

There are no reception facilities after 10pm at night. The doors are shut, and if you come back to the hotel after pub hours, you need to ring a doorbell at PV'S bar...and wait. Still, if you accept the limitations of this, it is a perfectly adequate place to stay. Breakfast was reasonable - the usual fare you would expect, full Irish, buffet style, fresh fruit, rolls, yoghurts etc. Staff are quite busy, but all were very obliging. We didn't have an evening meal here; but we saw others ordering what is basically good pub grub.

No hesitation in recommending this place to others.

Room Tip: Rooms that don't overlook the busy street outside are quieter.

I have stayed here twice for two seperate hen parties. As a group where the average age is 30 i was dreading it due to other posts. The hotel was fine rooms were very clean and one of the most powerful showers I have had in a hotel. The food at both breakfast and dinner was perfect with huge choice. There is ample parking and the hotel is ideal locally for shop, pubs, restaurants and seeing the city in general.

Had wonderful weekend in Kilkenny and my stay in Kilford Arms was great!
Staff are friendly, courteous and efficient. Room was small but spotless!
Our waiter at dinner couldnt have been any nicer and even sent us down a free glass of wine due to a small glitch with our order :)
Hotel is 2 minutes from centre of town and has free parking for residents.
Only downside...number of stag parties staying in hotel but other than being a bit noisy no harm.
Would definitely recommend!

This hotel was grand. It's cheap in relation to other hotels in Kilkenny, the room was clean but basic. They ask each guests names on arrival(which i found strange) which only becomes clear to you if you arrive back after reception is closed and you have to ring the very small doorbell at the top right hand corner of the bar door up the street. The barmen ask each of your names and then you can enter the bar/hotel.
It's perfect if your just looking for somewhere to lay your head after a night out in Kilkenny or if your a rowdy hen or stag party. Anyone else i would suggest you steer clear because you will not be getting a relaxing stay at this place.

Also we were given our room key and when we went to enter our room the door was slammed shut before we could get it fully open because someone was already in the room!! The receptionist gave us the wrong room key and wasn't overly apologetic about it when we went to get another room...it just kinda seemed like another Saturday to her!

In summary, if your stag/hen party or just using it to rest your head after a night out its fine!

Stayed here for 2 nights on a stag weekend, hotel is spotless, staff are great, and to be honest although there were numerous stag and hens there on the same weekend you would struggle to find them. Bar policy very good bar/security staff top notch. Breakfast was all i needed for the day. All good

Room Tip: Room at the back of hotel due to the road noise at night.
