Great deception on arrival , big modern Hotel behind the historic house . Service excellent , Valet , Front desk , Room service ( late dinner on arrival , and prompt Ice delivery ) , Restaurant , a thoroughly enjoyable experience ( ask for a room with a door onto the pond area ) . Room fine , nice bed , lovely fine linen sheets , nothing to complain or suggest .

I stayed in this hotel recently and it is an absolutely stunning building, located in a magical countryside setting. The rooms are a bit on the expensive side, but the prices are fair considering the standard of accomidation. Considering the prices of the rooms, however, I don't think it would be unreasonable to expect reasonable prices in the bar — €4.95 for a pint of Guinness, €5 for a Heineken is unacceptable in this day and age, and the €8.20 I was charged for a glass of wine was nothing short of daylight robbery.

Stayed there last week with My Partner and Mother inlaw, Rooms were comfortable and spacious , Staff Friendly and accomodating, My only crisitism would be there is only one Main toilet facilitiy in the lobby which services the two bars and Thai restaurant, Which means every time you need to go you have to travel down a steep staircase, which if you have had too much to drink or not as agile on your feet could be potentially dangerous. They have the residence bar on the same floor as the toilets, but it would be nice to have toilets on the same floor as the Thai restaurant and other bar. Would love to bring my elderely mother but would have to take this into account, after all you like to experience all aspects of the hotel when staying.

With my wife and child we stayed in this beautiful hotel just outside Kilkenny recently.
Comfy rooms although could not get a proper mini-fridge for junior's food!!, really good continental buffet breakfast but the hot food is from shaving dishes. Really yummy thai restaurant for dinner. The staff all seem very friendly. The leisure facilties are quite small but very clean. A bit pricey but the break was enjoyable.

Room Tip: Aroom facing the old garden!!

Had a fabulous mid week break in Lyrath Hotel in September. Set in a 700 acre estate, the older part of the hotel and grounds have retained all of their original period features, whilst the newer part of the hotel, with guest accommodation, restaurant and Health Spa offer totally modern facilities. So if you are a fan of Downton Abbey and would like a mix of old and new, then Lyrath is for you. From the moment we arrived, the Staff and the service that they provided, were fantastic. The food was superb, especially the variety on offer for breakfast, try the Guinness Brown Bread, really good. The Spa and Golfing facilities were excellent too. Located only 1.5 hours from Dublin and 2 km from Kilkenny, I will definitely be returning. Suitable for singles, couples, families and business trips.

This was not my first visit to this hotel and it certainly wont be my last. We brought my parents away for their 50th wedding anniversary and everything from start to finish was perfect. My parents were upgraded and champagne and chocolates awaited their arrivla. Afternoon tea and a few pints in the bar were very relaxing. That night we ate in the Le Perala restaurant. The service was excellent as was the setting and the food was as good as i have tasted anywhere cant speak highly enough of it. The X Bar was perfect place to finish off the evening and again service was excellent. Next day and i have to say you will go to a long way before you find a breakfast as good as this. Huge selection and of everything and it was all top quailty food. Finally took a stroll around one of the 6 tracks around the estate which has 170 acres with lakes and many other attractions. Cant recomend highly enough.
