Arrived at Lyrath Estate and were very impressed by the grounds, although parking was completely taken over by a wedding. Forced to park beside convention centre and carrying luggage from there.
Staff were very friendly on arrival and nice, yet talkative bellboy (oldman) brought our luggage to our room. Room was okay, not quite 5* but adequate. Returning to the room a few hours later, had a complaint and reported it to reception. To say we had an adequate response would be a colossal understatement. Upgraded to Executive Suite, which was simply phenomenal. Staff were absolutely fantastic.
Thai Restaurant was a great replacement for heading into Kilkenny. Breakfast the next day was as nice as we've had. Would absolutely recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: Room 227 if at all possible!

Been here twice first time we stayed in an exclusive room that was very nice big bed and lovely bathroom. Our room had a doorbell and the room service was excellent.we used the infinity pool and got the couples massage it was all very nice. And second time we stayed we chose the 1940s style room with the big windows and huge bathroom. The views wer so beautiful and they had lovely walk ways to chose from. Was a great stay both times.

My fiancé and I rented a car in Dublin and drove to Kilkenny to stay at the Lyrath Estate Hotel.
From the moment we arrived we were graciously welcomed- Staff at reception desk very warm and friendly.
We found the hotel beautiful! Clean and tastefully decorated, our room was comfortable with jacuzzi tub, large stall shower and safe.
Our room had a view out over fields which was very pretty.
The pool was heated and locker room clean and convenient- we loved the jacuzzi and steam room.
Breakfast was included in our package and it was full of choices from full Irish breakfast to cold cereals ( I loved the black pudding!)
We found the location perfectly suited for day travels to Tiperrary,Cahir, Waterford, etc.
I would never hesitate to stay at the Lyrath again! In fact, I can't wait to go back.

Bad experience at reception Less than efficient (to be kind) with no information offered on the hotel or facilities or the surrounding area Went to the lift with our bags with no offer of assistance and when we got out at our floor we were greeted by house staff hoovering directly outside the lift door All along the corridor staff were cleaning rooms with trolleys of supplies located in such a way that we had to dodge with our suitcases Check in was not until 4 o'clock so surely rooms should have been organised at 5.15 pm so that guests do not experience this The bed clothes in our room were wrinkled which led us to check that the sheets were in fact clean One small bottle of shower gel for two people 5 star ??? When I said at reception that it was our first visit I was told there was an information booklet in the room Said booklet was grubby to say the least with all the pages loose as most of the holes to hold them in place were torn and said pages were in no order whatsoever We went to the leisure center which was so busy that we thought it was anything but leisurely and declined to use it Went for dinner that night in La Perla and it was very good I had the risotto starter and chocolate dessert and loved it but again the little things left Lyrath down like no teaspoons with the teacups Went to the bar for cocktails and they were also very good Breakfast the following morning was again a bit hit and miss No glasses for juice Toast for two was made by a member of staff and served on one plate and we couldn't find another so had to use a napkin Beans and potatoes on hot counter were cold and the salmon was gone and not replaced while we were in the dining room When we went to check out, reception was like Grand Central Station with people milling around everywhere We could not bring our car to reception to load our bags as there were a number of tour buses blocking access so we had to trek with our bags in the rain to the car park As we were driving out there were what looked like two managers in suits guiding traffic to try and clear the obstruction This is the first time I have written such a lengthy review which I think reflects my disappointment in Lyrath House Estate

My mum and I stayed there one Bank Holiday weekend (not sure of the dates) and we arrived on the Friday. The staff at reception are very friendly, and where checked in really promptly. We were shown to Our room which was nice and clean. We went to the Spa on the Saturday and we were pampered which we really enjoyed, Was so calm and relaxing. That evening we went to Yindees Restuarant and had an absolutely delicious meal. The staff are really friendly. Afterwards we went into the Bar and the staff at the bar where friendly and helpful, there was a band playing and the atmosphere was really good. The next morning we had breakfast in the main dining room, staff are friendly but we had to queue and wait to be seated as the dining room was full, after that we then went for a walk around the beautiful gardens of the Hotel. That night we went in to Kilkenny City which is only 5 minutes away by cab. We checked out the next morning and the Door Man brought my car up from the car park for us and off home we went.

Room Tip: Room was over looking the gardens and was very quite.

'Took a midweek family break in the hotel with our five year old. The price was reasonable, and the facilities sounded excellent. Overall, we were not disappointed.

The room was extremely comfortable and the staff was very pleasant to deal with. We would highly recommend Yindees restaurant - the maitre d’ being extremely accommodating and, of course, the food excellent.

Breakfast was also a superb and relaxing feast in La Perla.

Having said that, I would (somewhat reluctantly) have minor quibbles. Mainly, these have to do with the hotel facilities - specifically, the swimming pool.

I found it quite small and it quickly became crowded when 3-4 families availed of it. I was also quite surprised that there was such a low level of supervision – one person behind a desk that gave no clear view of the activities in the pool. It was also a real let-down to see peeling paint in the men’s changing rooms, as well as broken lockers.

Yes, the hotel suggests you walk down from your room in your dressing gown and then shower there too, on your return. But is this really what you expect from a 5-Star facility?

The other minor quibble I have is the lack of information available for the facilities in the estate. Only when we were leaving did we discover a small playground in the hotel grounds, which our daughter would have loved.

I suppose the lesson is: ask, ask ask about all the facilities available.

Room Tip: We had a pleasant room opposite the conference centre, which isn;t as bad as it sounds, since it als...

we spend a family vacation in Ireland and made a tour around the country. We stayed for 2 nights at the Lyrath Hotel, and enjoyed every moment of it. The hotel is designed for families with a lot of local attractions for adults and for kids. In particular we were impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, which did all they can in order to make our stay pleasant and comfortable. The hotel itself is located just outside Kilkenny's old city, which made it very convenient to get there, and at the same time, its location and surrounding gives a feeling of a secluded and remote place. In order to enjoy everything the hotel offers its guests, 2 nights are not enough, and it may be better to plan for at least 3 nights when going on a family trip. overall, it was a great value for the money

Room Tip: rooms looking at the small pond behind the hotel have great view
